Message from Owner

Our beloved cat, Sher Khan, is missing, and we’re absolutely heartbroken. We brought him with us all the way from Pakistan when we moved to Canada last year, and he’s been an indoor-only cat his entire life. He’s a very shy and scared boy who isn’t used to being outside, so we’re extremely worried that he may be hiding nearby and too frightened to come out. If you see him or have any information, no matter how small, please contact me immediately. Please don’t chase him if you spot him, as he may run away out of fear. Thank you so much for helping us bring our boy home. ❤️

I found my cat by searching the area at night, around 11pm when everything has quieted down. She was able to hear me calling her name and started to meow. Also reach out to Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton

I know this is not ideal, but if you can, leave your door open a little bit and put out your worn clothing and some food. We did this and our indoor only cat came home in the middle of the night after missing for 3 days. Also, the best time to search is between midnight and 5 am when all is quiet.

Pls check w all your neighbors to let them know u r missing your cat. Ask to check all sheds porches etc. And bushes. Usually they don't go far at first. Timing is essential. Posters help too. Go out at night with flashlight and shine into dark area. Eyes will reflect light. Bring fave treats. Do not put out litter. You can put out kitties bedding or your clothes/blankets during the day.Litter can attract tomcats or other animals attracted to the scent. Your kitty could be close but these animals could scare him and then he might go further away to get out of danger. It's not recommended anymore for these reasons.

Contact microchip company first then the closest animal shelter to you. When it starts to get dark check houses on either side of you shaking treats calling softly. Listen for any small sounds. I hope he's is home safe soon.

Shared. Note that two days is a long time to a cat, so you have no time to waste. If you have not yet done all these things do so ASAP, if you have do them again and go further in your search. Notify Oakville Animal Services and check their website(s) for found cats (every two days). Carefully check around your home and property, focusing on small, hidden spots like closets, dresser drawers and hidden nooks and crannies in garages, sheds, basement etc., as cats often hide nearby when scared. Search all nearby shrubs, bushes and trees, window wells, garages and sheds. Ask nearby neighbours to do the same. Alert local vet offices, rescues and shelters. Intact male cats can travel long distances in search of females in heat and have trouble finding their way back home. Cats will usually stay near the door they left for a day or two before searching for food. In case he is still nearby or comes around leave his used litter and some food and water in hidden places near the door he left NOW and check this evening. Alert local feral cat feeders who may spot him searching for food. See Pawboost for more ways to find and sample posters. Put a notice in nearby neighbours mailboxes, post on local notices boards, in community centres, churches and schools. Go out after dark bring food and treats, search a 5+ block radius, stop periodically and softly call but do not make any loud noises or sudden moves. Lost cats are terrified and do not recognize their owner as safe.
