You might try a live trap, they are fairly cheap on amazon, my Jane wanted to come back but was too overwhelmed and scared, she had made a home under a backyard shed across the street and wouldnt let anyone near her. I saw she kept coming around the doors at night and if i didnt have other pets, i would have left the door cracked and that may have solved it. Eventually she was found eating hamburger in the trap on my front porch and all was right again. It took about 3 weeks for her to show up and i did have to release squirrels and possums along the way which were easy. Tuna in oil also makes a lot of scent. Make sure there's water too. If its cold out, wrap the trap in a blanket and make sure to check it often, check it often no matter what the weather is. In fact, best to keep a camera on it. I believe in Jane's case, the live trap was her only chance. Best of luck and a swift resolve for you I hope

Keep looking for Smokey 🐾especially at night and early mornings, try to lure him back or from hiding with items with his scent and yours on the items and walk around wit a flashlight and a smelly can of cat or tuna or have his favorite treat ,call his name or a special name you called use a calm voice. Keep looking every evening and early mornings. File a missing cat a the Franklin County shelters and check in person daily also Capital Area Humane Society and other cat shelters ,rescues and post on all pet lost & found sites .Have posters or flyers printed with photo and description of smokey place all around your neighborhood and nearby places and ask your neighbors to look for smokey around their yards and garages, sheds anything that a cat can in or under porches etc.and show your neighbors his photo ,offer them posters or flyers to put on their cars as you should put a poster or flyer on your car .Place flyers around nearby veterinarian's and groomers, pet stores ,grocery stores .Prayers and I have shared your post.
