Stampy's Owner Says

We are beyond relieved to share that Stampy is home. To every single person who shared his post, commented, messaged us, checked garages, sheds, cellars, crawl spaces, and pool hses, or simply kept an eye out—thank you. And to the neighbor who recognized him because she had seen Rowan's signs and took the time to make that phone call: you changed everything for us today. This has reminded us of what an extraordinary place Old Town Manassas is to live. We are overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness. Thank you. There’s no place like home.

Laura Coughanour we're definitely doing all these things. My son's gone door-to-door with our neighbors and has left fliers on light poles all over too. I think I've printed 60 or 70 so far :( My main concern is that he went to ground when the storm began and is stuck somewhere. We're encouraging everyone in our neighborhood to check sheds/pool houses/garages to see if he's indeed stuck somewhere he shouldn't be. We have visited both the City and County shelters and filed a report. Also his vet office in Old Town. We're praying so hard that he's found!

Stinky cat food can attract predators (recent coyote sighting off Prince William St) and other cats that would drive him away or injure him. He knows where home is, just may not be able to get back inside if hes coming home in the middle if the night, which is likely. Pre-worn laundry is a safer attractant.

Many cats will dive into storm drains for cover during bad storms and then come back in the middle of the night when the world is quiet and human activity is minimal. I would suggest looking for him between midnight and 4am. If you have a Ring, check it to see if he’s been around and ask your neighbors to check their Rings as well. If you can, leave a door open/ajar during those hours and wait up. He may very well come back inside on his own. Many times thats when cats try to come home only to find doors closed and owners asleep. With no way to get back inside, they go back into hiding. This cycle can continue for days. Make up posters with his photo and your contact info, offer a reward but no need to post an amount. Keep checking the City shelter and take them a copy of your poster. Im in Old Town also and I can laminate them for you so theyre waterproof, just DM me and we’ll go from there, if you want. Prayers for his safe return❤️

If you have a shed or garage or enclosed porch, prop open the door overnight and put unwashed laundry inside. He may go in overnight. Don't put food in there because it may attract other critters. Leave a window or door open to your home after dark. He may come in. Please borrow a trap from your local shelter and set it up ASAP. Sending prayers.🙏

Suggestions: Have you tried putting out a can of stinky cat food? I’ve heard putting out their litter box can help them find their scent. Catnip? Ask neighbors to check garages/sheds she could be in. Any nearby sewers? Local cat colonies? You can post on Nextdoor and PawBoost. com. A baby monitor and/or a ring cam may help. Check out NRV Drone Tracking(?). My friend found his lost cat stick up in a tree recently. Prayers and fliers worked for me. Good luck! 🙏🏻 EDIT: Another person has cautioned against leaving out food and/or dirty litter bc it could attract other animals, so do what you feel is best.
