Take treats, and a flashlight, out with you and call him in the quietest hours of the early morning around 3-4 :30 a.m. when your voice will carry farther. Look in hiding spots and trees, and listen for him. Most indoor cats don't go far when they get outside they get scared and hide during the day and come out at night when it's quiet and dark. They often try to return home during those hours so be watchful for him then. Put something outside your home with your scent or his scent on it to help him find his way home. Put up colored flyers around your neighborhood and businesses then go door-to-door with one and ask your neighbors to check in their sheds and garages to make sure he didn't get accidentally shut in somewhere. Go to shelters IN PERSON as descriptions are not always accurate. Don't give up! Keep calling him! It may take him a while to come out of hiding if he is very scared or has wandered farther away but if he hears your voice it will keep him close by until he eventually gets brave enough to come out of hiding and follow your voice home. You’re probably getting a lot of advice but I hope some/all of these tips help you bring your baby home quickly. Most important tip, do not wait for your cat to show up, even if they’ve escaped before and come home on their own! Be very active in your efforts to bring your baby home, fliers, door knocking, going out at night with flashlight, etc. If you’re unsure if he/she’s still close by I highly recommend an outdoor camera. It doesn’t have to be a Ring that requires a subscription. I have an indoor/outdoor Wyze purchased from Amazon for less than $40 (does require separate purchase of outdoor power cable but that was cheap). I set the camera up to alert me when it detects movement and it immediately pops up on my phone. Leave food out close to house/apartment entry to encourage your cat to stay close by rather than wander away looking for resources. Also, if possible, leave the door or window to the house/apartment or garage cracked open because they often will wander up and come right inside.

🚨Please follow these tips immediately suggested by professionals. They have been successful for others. LOST CAT TIPS Your Missing Cat will try to re-enter the home when the neighborhood is quiet. If it all possible, leave the door ajar that the kitty escaped from and secure other companion animals to a separate room of the home. He/she will try to re-enter when the neighborhood is quiet in the evening and overnight hours. Make sure you physically check underneath and in the engine compartment of your vehicles prior to starting in the morning. Cats typically don't go very far, and are hiding, so you'll have to search for them. Put clothing/bedding that smell like him/her and his/her family outside the home immediately. Along with some smelly food such as tuna,. sardines,. mackerel fish in front of camera if you have one. The usually will follow the scent home. If you have a garage, leave the door open enough for him/her to get in. If you live in a mobile home community look under yours and your neighbor's homes. Check around your home: bushes, up in trees, deck, porch etc. If their head fits their body will too! Door-knock neighbors and ask them to check outbuildings, sheds, garages and ring cam footage. Use a flashlight to look under cars, bushes and up in trees for the glow of the kitties eyes. Go out periodically through out the night shaking his/her treats or opening a can of wet food and call to him/her. Listen for any responses and watch for movement and/or eyes peering out. Renting/borrowing/buying a live trap and setting within the first 24 hours your cat has been missing is a good idea. Live traps need to be monitored frequently. Be prepared to release wildlife. You can purchase a live trap at tractor supply store. Use sardines, mackerel fish or tuna in the trap, they will not go in a trap for cat food. The only food they should have access to is what's in the trap or they will not go in. Post on Nextdoor app and any other neighborhood groups on Facebook. Ask neighbors to check security camera footage for sightings of him and to call you ASAP. Post on For the Love of Louie *Michigan Lost Pet Lookers* Also post on pawboost online for lost and found pets. Posting neon posters in your neighborhood is very important to the recovery of your lost pet. Also give a flyer to the mailman. You can use neon poster board from the dollar store. Write missing cat, a description of your cat and phone number with a marker.

The best time to look for a cat is late at night after the daytime sounds settle down. Go for a walk and take a flashlite scan into the trees and under bushes. A cat can fit in any hole that they can fit their head thru they have collapsible shoulder blades. Most indoor cats stay close to home but come out at night. Most important is to make your presence known. Go out every half hour after 9pm and call for them and stop and listen it's amazing what you can hear late at night. Get your voice and scent out there. They are looking for you also. Look for glowing eyes at night. If there is a dog sibling that the cat likes take the dog on the walk. If you open canned cat food or shake treats do so on your walk. If the cat has a noisy toy shake it on your walk. Make posters and put in every business within a mile of the home. Let your mail carrier know. If there are teenagers in the neighborhood let them know they love reward money and being a hero. Check all local shelters. Let local veterinarians know your info. If there is a feral colony near you check it out. If you can find the feeder of the colony give them your info. Make large signs and put in neighbors yards at least a mile radius of the home. This ensures that everyone in the area has the info. Put post it notes on your neighbors doors to look in sheds and garages. Post on every Facebook forum in your area. Post on Pawboost and For the love of Louie. Check Humane Society. So important to make your presence known every half hour after 9pm. Make a bed out of the cats carrier and put soiled clothes from inside the home around the bed. Put it as close to the house as you can. Leave a shed or garage open check them often. Camp in your yard. Most indoor cats are found late at night. Don't give up. Do not put food out or litter it attracts every animal in the area including raccoon opossum feral cats and coyotes. Your cat will know that there is food inside and that is incentive to keep them close to the house. If you are outside that's OK but take it in when you go back in. If your cat sees a predator eating their food it might make them retreat further. Most important is to let them know you are looking for them. Hope you find your baby
