Thanks for the comforting words..left a litter box outside the fence under a bush, hoping she will follow the scent to find her way home.

Lovely Maine Coon. If your cat is indoor only she will hide nearby because she does not know her territory so put out her litter box and other scents from inside such as bedding or cat posts along with food and water. Cats are led by scent so that litter box is what will keep her around. If you need one for indoors for your other cat get a new one , but put the old dirty one outside so your lost kitty can know it is her territory. A cat can smell their own litter for several blocks. Call her name, shake her treats. Look anywhere and everywhere she could be hiding. Under cars, decks, bushes etc. Use a flashlight, even during the day. Cats do not leave their territory, so once in a new one their first instinct is to hunker down and hide. She may not answer you, it is a defense mechanism. But once it is quiet and she gets hungry enough she will come out of her hiding spot in search for food. The scent of the litter box will keep her. Leave the porch light on. Open up a can of very smelly cat food and step away so you can watch from a distance to see if she comes out to eat it. Put signs on neighbors porches asking them to check their property for her also. You may have to set a humane trap to get your cat back inside. But if she is indoor/outdoor, she already know her territory so no worries about the liter box. She may be trapped in a neighbors garage, shed, basement, crawlspace, up in a tree or even on a roof. Look everywhere ask your neighbor to check their property where she could be hiding or trapped. Post signs, and put flyers on neighbors porches asking them to check their property. Post on Nextdoor and file a lost report with the shelter. If she has a chip report her lost with them and make sure contact info is current. She will not run off, she is hiding if indoor only, and she is trapped somewhere if used to the outdoors. If she is ill or injured she will hide like an indoor only cat. So look every where for her and don't stop. Hope you find your pretty kitty soon.
