When searching for your car, make sure to occasionally sit down, if your cat is agitated and scared it might not come out unless you make yourself small, calm and approachable. Check in the quiet hours like twilight or before dawn, use a flashlight to catch a glint of it's eyes, shake a bag of it's favorite kibbles and occasionally whistle so it can hear you. Leave out something with your strong smell on it, like gym socks or sweat shirts, so it can lead your kitty back home. Put flyers around the neighborhood and local vet/mail boxes/shelters/pet stores.
