Notify non-emergency police, animal control and the postal carriers in the area lost. Check with neighbors or businesses nearby that may have cameras. Put a neon sign in your yard. Fill out lost reports with both Lost Dogs/Cats Illinois website www.petfbi.org and Pawboost website (choose not to pay for ads and it’s free!) They will generate a flyer for you to print. Post in lost animal sites and community sites on FB. Put up flyers at nearby stores/gas stations, pet stores, libraries, and give some to pizza delivery places to put on their boxes. Put the outside flyers in a gallon sized freezer bag to protect from the elements. You can also try bus companies to put a flyer on their buses. Let the kids in the area know as they notice everything when not on their phones. Put food and water out and something with your scent. Check in nearby garages, sheds, window wells, ponds, look under decks. Also check with shelters in person or call as many as you can and give them a flyer. If the animal is chipped notify the company and make sure your contact info is correct. Also let vet and groomers in the area know. Can see if anyone has a drone to help search especially if woods nearby. Please also be aware of scammers. Especially if you are giving a reward. Do not give them a code or anything they ask. Tell them you will give them the reward at the police station for both of your safety. 🙏🏻 for a reunion soon! Don’t give up hope!

Lost Dog Tips and Information Please post on Lost Dogs Illinois by registering your pup at https://www.petfbi .org You will receive two free flyers to print and you need to post in your neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods. They offer tips and best practice on how to recover your loss Dog. This is a free service. Flyers are extremely important in gaining sightings of your pup and where your pup is finding its safe zone. Make sure your phone number is on the flyer and correct. A phone call is much faster than a social media post. * 🔺If your pup is shy/skittish, please do not post sightings. Good Samaritans may chase your dog and cause your dog to bolt or run into traffic. * 🔺Leave food, water and a scent item (ie unlaundered shirt, towel with your scent on it) where the dog went missing. Oftentimes dogs will return to where they were lost from. * 🔺Share the post and start spreading the word on social media, including Next Door and Neighbors Ring App * 🔺Flyers are most important right now! There are many people not on social media, so the more people that see that flyer, the better. * 🔺Put a large lost dog sign in your yard. * 🔺If chipped, call the chip company asap & make sure it’s registered & up to date! *🔺Make sure you report your dog as missing with the Microchip company * 🔺Alert your Animal Control and Police Department too and check with them daily. SCAM alert! Please be careful with anyone claiming to have your dog and asking for a 6 digit google code to prove you are a human. It is a scam and in full force. Also, beware of anyone asking for money for your dog back. NEVER send money until you have possession of your dog. Please disregard no matter how persistent the scammers are! Good luck! I hope you find your fur baby soon.

Here are tips to help get your dog home safe. ✳️ If your pup is shy/skittish, please do not post sightings. This is a free service. ✳️ Leave food, water and a scent item (ie unlaundered shirt, towel with your scent on it) where the dog went missing. Oftentimes dogs will return to where they were lost from. ✳️ Share the post and start spreading the word on social media, including Next Door and Neighbors Ring App ✳️ Flyers are most important right now! There are many people not on social media, so the more people that see that flyer, the better. ✳️ Put a large lost dog sign in your yard. ✳️ If chipped, call the chip company asap & make sure it’s registered & up to date! ✳️ Microchips can be missed during scanning and collars/ID tags do fall off. Please be careful with anyone claiming to have your dog and asking for a 6 digit google code to prove you are a human. It is a scam and in full force.
