Message from Owner

We had entrusted Poppy to a friend while away on a fishing trip. Something we often did. Unfortunately, Poppy escaped during this time, and the individual responsible failed to inform us and has since become unreachable. By the time we became aware of the situation and contacted your centre, we were devastated to learn that Poppy had already been rehomed and the pound would give no info on here whereabouts or simply if she was safe. Poppy is not just a pet, Daryl has had her since she was 10 weeks old, and she has been his constant companion for the past 5 years since moving to Australia from Northern Ireland. The sudden loss without closure is causing immense distress. We are also deeply concerned for Poppy’s wellbeing. She would be frightened and confused without Daryl and not knowing whether she is safe, cared for or in the right hands is something we are struggling to cope with. The thought that she may have ended up in unsafe circumstances is truly overwhelming. This may be a long shot but any sightings or help would be truly appreciated by two heartbroken people.

Catherine Faulds If an owner has an unregistered dog that is not microchipped, how are the council supposed to contact him? Via a crystal ball? Maybe the dog will be better off with the new family who cared enough to rescue it and would have had to get it microchipped and registered in their name. Had the previous owner even bothered to get her sterilised? If he did not have a microchip or council registration in his name there is no proof that he owned the dog or even that he looked after it well.

Haylie Darcy from what I interpreted from reading other posts the dog went missing while the owner was away back in march, he spent a week ir so looking for her in the area himself and didn’t know about the pound until his neighbour suggested it. once he contacted the pound he was waiting for a call back that never came - eventually a while later he tried again and found out she was rehomed. He’s been distraught every since but had no way of following up as the pound wouldn’t give him information. His friend on hearing the story recently has made these posts on various pages. This poor guy just didn’t have the knowledge to go about finding her (also possibly wasn’t using social media back then)

Can u enlist the help of The Pet Detectives? This happened similar to our family member tough it was a family cat, ended up at Cat Haven long story, the cat was adopted by another family, and Cat Haven wouldn’t divulge new owners info and then the new owners saw the news story on tv and fb then handed the cat back to the original owners. Perhaps get the media involved also just to put it out the further. Good luck getting Poppy back. 🙏🏻🫶🏻🤞🏻💔
