Message from Owner

We had entrusted Poppy to a friend while away on a fishing trip. Something we often did. Unfortunately, Poppy escaped during this time, and the individual responsible failed to inform us and has since become unreachable. By the time we became aware of the situation and contacted your centre, we were devastated to learn that Poppy had already been rehomed and the pound would give no info on here whereabouts or simply if she was safe. Poppy is not just a pet, Daryl has had her since she was 10 weeks old, and she has been his constant companion for the past 5 years since moving to Australia from Northern Ireland. The sudden loss without closure is causing immense distress. We are also deeply concerned for Poppy’s wellbeing. She would be frightened and confused without Daryl and not knowing whether she is safe, cared for or in the right hands is something we are struggling to cope with. The thought that she may have ended up in unsafe circumstances is truly overwhelming. This may be a long shot but any sightings or help would be truly appreciated by two heartbroken people.

Jade Calvert I know Shenton Dog Refuge home has taken dogs from COW in the past. Was Poppy missing at the end of March (someone stated this), or May 1? Any paper trail will be hidden now (if there was any), after the attention this story is getting now. Shenton doesn't advertise dogs as much as other rescues do because it's a walk in and adopt Refuge, some dogs are in foster. Other rescues like Oldies But Goodies, Desperate For Love are foster based, so the dogs are advertised on social media. One of my dogs was dumped at the pound and went to Desperate For Love, I saw her online. One of my boys was adopted straight from the COW by a neighbour before I became his owner, so I don't know the exact process.

It says online that Wanneroo do some rehoming themselves, some to RSPCA, others to Dog's Refuge and SAFE.

Jassinta Outred wait seriously? Not registered or microchipped?!!?!!? 🤯🤯🤯 Also that's really strange regarding the date. This whole thing doesn't add up. Why are the dates wrong and why oh why wasn't she microchipped?! 😔 Poor poppy.

Jodi Amanda I saw a more detailed post where the owner said Poppy wasn’t microchipped or registered and had no tag on her collar. It seems she also went missing around mid-March not the beginning of May like was said on this post. I feel for the owner losing a much loved pet but it doesn’t seem as straight forward as has been said.

I cannot work out how Poppy was rehomed if she was Microchipped, Council Registered or even had a collar on with a name tag? Something isn't adding up 😮‍💨
