Everyone please keep looking. We were moving from St Louis and had 6 cats in three vehicles. At a rest stop we checked on all the cats. One of the cats was still sleepy so I had the carrier next to me so I could touch her and make sure she was ok. When I got back in the car she skipped out under my legs. We were frantic. It was a cold bitter night . I put an ad in the local paper. After 44 days lost she was found and I flew back to get her. Never give up.🩷🐈‍⬛🐾🐾

These are good social media sites. *If your pet is chipped alert chip and confirm all info is current. *Put up flyers and leave one at the Shelters, Vets, Groomers and Pet Stores. (Don’t forget to update current date on shelter flyers because shelters throw flyers out after 7 days) 24petconnect.com is the shelters website search without filters. Go in person often search al kennels. *Go door to door a neighbor might have your pet. 🔺*Stolen file a stolen property report with police and animal control. Ask neighbors if they have surveillance cameras/Video. *Never give up!

Usually a cat won’t go far from home however, if it was chased away from its local area or follows of butterfly down the street and got too far away from it surrounding area and smell, you will have to create a smell scent. Cats are about smell, and they recognize their own smell and their owners. Take a used sock cut it up into tiny little pieces. It does not even have to be the size of dime. It can be a quarter of that. Start at your front door. Go out 2 miles in all directions dropping these pieces every 2 feet estimate. Say a prayer and hopefully your cat will smell this way home.

I pray your kitty comes home soon! 🙏 Here’s some advice… They usually don’t wander far! Look in bushes, under cars, dumpsters, building vent openings, etc. Walk around at different times of day (night is when cats are most active, their eyes will reflect from your flashlight) tapping a can of food or shaking a treat bag. It may recognize the sound and come out! Also try iPhone app “Human to Cat” when walking around. It plays cat noises that attract them to you. I’ve used this to find friends’ cats! Place their toys, blankets, clothing with your scent, etc. in areas by your house to draw them home. Avoid litter if you can, as the scent could draw coyotes Hang posters and call nearby vets, shelters, and pet stores to put posters there, too. If your cat has a microchip, reach out to the company! And post on Pawboost, Nextdoor, Citizen, Petkey, lostmykitty.com, lost.petcolove.org, Craigslist, & No Network. https://www.nokillnetwork.org/lostandfound/how-it-works.php Lastly, if you live in a safe area - my neighbor found his cat by recording and playing his voice on loop via a speaker in his yard. Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for your cat to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be killed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of their eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode last 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. Make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Most people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for your cat as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap. Recently a friend hooked up a baby monitor & when her cat was at the front door at 5:30 AM heard her on the monitor. Another kitty was recently found hiding in a car engine 7 houses away from where it lived and another one was found hiding under neighbor’s shed and neighbor was able to contact owner after recognizing the cat from posters and flyers she had handed out to the neighbors Another cat was found after being missing for 7 months, he had incorporating himself to a colony where he was being fed by a lady who fed strays. Ask around and see where feeding spots in your area are, your cat could also be there. Sent from my iPhone
