MESSAGE FROM OWNER

Deucey is part of a feral colony that we have been caring for and socializing for three years. He’s a real sweetheart but we haven’t seen him since Tuesday, April 30. If someone is giving him a good forever I would love that. But if everyone would just check any enclosed spaces to make sure he’s not trapped somewhere. We really miss him. Thank you all.

Pass out flyers to all your neighbors ask them to open any sheds or garages for 10 mins & walk away. If your cat got trapped inside, while exploring an open shed/garage, then hopefully it will come out. Ask neighbors to check their security cameras and keep watch for your cat moving through their yard at night by way of the cameras. Put up brightly colored posters on poles surrounding your neighborhood. Cover them in clear pack tape to keep dry. Also, Beware that you will get texts from scammers wanting you to text codes or do “xyz” to prove you are owner. A person who truly has your cat will only ask you to show them photos of your pet off your phone. Also, people will tell you how they used a recovery/search agency to find their pet. Also, a scam to take your money. Most of those services are not even in the TriState. Exception is, Reaves Recovery and Rescue. They are here in Cincinnati area, but do charge a fee since they are a business. File a Lost cat report with Cincinnati Animal CARE or your local animal shelter & area rescues. You can Google, animal rescues in my area, to get a list.

List on Nextdoor too. Check on Animal Care Center. Even if they have been outdoors before: Getting your home scent out there is one of the best things you can do. Worn clothing or your pillowcases and if possible in a place where they can blow. They can smell up to a mile away. Typically they do not travel more than 5 to 7 houses away from home. They are more likely to move at dawn and dusk. If you have a back door or a garage door that you could leave slightly open or up in the case that when you sing song his/her name and shake treats that s/he comes running back. Even if your cat is the snuggliest cat you have ever had just remember when they are outside they will be very scared so you do not want to chase them. It is not advised to put their litter box outside as it can attract other outside critters and keep your cat from coming back home ( this being said some people do find the litterbox to be a good scent trigger for their cat: please monitor the box and never leave outside after dark if you do this) . Check in with neighbors for their garages, sheds, under their decks and or porches and to bang on their hoods of their cars. Get flyers made and posted in the area. Notify your microchip company, mail carrier, local PD & also your local shelter. Post on neighborhood apps & local lost and found groups in your area (via FB).--
