Check out The Lost Cat DIY Kit. When my cat was lost, I got detailed coaching from the Lost Cat Finder and stopped wasting time doing things that are not productive, like setting random traps and putting out dirty litter boxes and more. Use the Lost Cat Kit so you can take the best search actions for your situation. https://www.lostcatfinder.com/services/the-lost-cat-kit?ref=lostcatkit2

- [ ] A couple things: humane traps are crucial, get one ASAP. Amazon has them I think for around $30 or contact One or more rescues to see if they Will loan you one, they often do. Also see if those same rescues can assist you in trying to trap your baby. I know Forgotten Cats is one, but there are many more. - [ ] While waiting on a trap, go outside and check every crack and crevice around your house. Every corner, under bushes, around trash cans, garages or sheds, just about anywhere a cat can hide because he’s scared. - [ ] If no luck during the day, go out very late at night 3-4 am isagood time) with a flashlight (helps to see the glowing eyes), when everything is super quiet, walk around your house or yard and gently call his name and shake a bag of treats or food, he may come out of hiding when he hears your voice and all else is quiet. Cats tend to stay close to home, so he is probably nearby. - [ ] You can also put dirty laundry outside, if he’s nearby, he may be able to recognize familiar scents. The more laundry you can put out, the better. - [ ] Some people recommend putting out a dirty litter box, while I know of a couple people who said they had success with this, it is in fact a myth. Doing this is known to attract predators that may hurt or keep your cat away. - [ ] Also, talk to anyone you can who lives near you and let them know your baby is missing, your neighbors, the mailman, even the police... they don’t mind non-emergency calls, just tell them that your kitty is missing and give them your info to contact you if they happen to see one that looks similar. - [ ] And lastly, post on every lost and found pets page you can find. There is A very popular one called bring the lost pets of Delaware County PA home... i usually take a screenshot and share any lost pets on their page. The more people that know your kitty is missing, the better.

So sorry your kitty has gone missing. Kitty is likely hiding close by (especially if an indoor-only cat). Leave food and water nearby. Also place a protected large container shelter with unwashed towel/blanket inside. A little used litter could also betered nearby. SEARCH OFTEN AND THOROUGHLY---under parked cars, down alleyways, in neighbors' yards, under shrubs/piles of debris, up trees, under porches, near dumpsters. Check for open bat doors and broken windows in homes/bldgs (garages, sheds, etc.). Take a flashlight, carrier, and treats/favorite food with you, and call kitty's name while you search on foot. Call out to kitty and listen carefully. Find out if anyone around/near your block feeds strays. Post flyers *door-to-door* on & around your block, along streets, with local businesses and area vets. Ask neighbors to check their properties and to text you immediately if they see kitty. File a report with Phila ACCT shelter (http://www.acctphilly.org/lostpet/lostreport/) and post on their fb page LostAndFoundPhilly (https://www.facebook.com/LostAndFoundPhilly). Contact your microchip company to report and update your contact info. Also post on these sites: NextDoor.com and Craigslist (lost&found) and any social media sites in your particular neighborhood (or a block email group). Also email your flyer to area vets, including Philly PAWS (gfclinic@phillypaws.org). Consider borrowing a humane trap from a vet or animal shelter. Again, SEARCH for kitty as often as possible throughout the day! Keep us posted.
