Please go out at night after traffic noise has down, shine flash light under bushes and things cat can hide under and also in trees. Check out any green spots looking back at you. Call cat and wait for a meow back. CRITICAL INCASE CAT IS TRAPPED SOMEWHERE; start from where cat went missing and workout for a radius of 2 miles, knock on doors and ask in person if they will check sheds, garages, window wells, and other outside buildings for cat. ALSO, put cats bed or an old pair of your tennis shoes to help cat know where your porch is. NOT, a litter box that will attract other animals that may keep your cat away. Scared cats usually don't travel far from where they go missing and will wait for YOU to come find them. Also stop by local shelters and rescues everyother day to see if cat has been. turned in. If you don’t hear anything, keep moving slowly through the area. • Check hiding spots nearby, including: • Garages • Window wells • Under cars • Bushes and shrubs • Decks and porches • Talk to your neighbors and ask them to check their properties, sheds, and garages. • Place dirty laundry or familiar-smelling items outside your home to help your cat find their way back. • Contact your cat’s microchip company and report them as lost. • Check local animal shelters frequently—visit in person if possible. • Post on: • Facebook lost & found pet groups • PawBoost • Create flyers and posters with a clear photo and your contact info. Hand them out and place them in visible areas. • ⚠️ Do NOT put out a litter box, as it can attract other animals and may discourage your cat from returning.

General Information: Indoor cats are usually close to home. Check any and all hiding places in your home - closets, under side of mattress. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. NOT A LITTER BOX OR FOOD. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.

I'm so sorry that Hairy is missing. Often they haven't gone far from the point of last seen so check with ALL of your neighbors!! Since he is an indoor cat he is likely hiding nearby. Research shows that most cats are found within a 6 block radius of the point of last seen. Please ask your neighbors to check their sheds, garages, window wells, under porches, etc. anywhere he may have inadvertently been trapped. It's possible someone took him in thinking that he was a stray. Consider putting missing flyers in the neighborhood and on the doorstep of any neighbors you don't get to talk to. Ask neighbors to check Ring cameras. I've helped a few neighbors track down their missing cats. All of them were found just a few blocks away. Also check online at the found cats at the shelters near you. Check daily because they are only on a stray hold for a short time before they can be adopted by others. Look for them and call for them after it gets dark (around 9pm currently) and around dawn (around 5am currently) as that's when they move about. I've heard that they try to return the same way they left so if you can leave a garage door, window, etc. open. Make sure that your contact information connected to his chip registration is correct! There are mixed opinions on putting out their litterbox. Put out a piece of your clothing and one of his blankets. I've seen scammers replying to lost pet posts saying that they have found the lost pet. If you have to respond by messenger it is a scam. Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Especially important if cat is in new/unfamiliar area. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under everything inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small, tight, dark areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon.
