Message from Owner

I rescued this cat 10 months ago. On June 10 is her first birthday. She’s very very dear to me. And I am devastated just thinking that I may not see her again. I hope that I can find her with the help of everyone. I thank you from the bottom of my heart before hand.

Dagmar Ruiz, although anything is possible, please try not to fear the worst. It's possible ChiquiLena simply needs some extra help getting home. Thoroughly search using a flashlight during the day and especially at dusk (when it's dark and quiet) to determine whether she’s ill or injured and hiding nearby, or stuck somewhere. Check every crack and crevice, look in outbuildings, containers, vehicles, under foundations, sheds and porches, into trees, etc. — call and listen carefully for ChiquiLena’s cries (she may alert you to he location). And it’s important to ask neighbors to do the same and make sure ChiquiLena didn’t hide and became trapped in a shed or garage, etc. Please see this list of step-by-step instructions developed to help others in this situation (click on the link) and let me know if you have questions. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10236753035464835&set=p.10236753035464835&type=3 In addition, this video explains the temperament and behavior of a lost cat — it may instill hope of finding ChiquiLena. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2eCoC63B9I Good luck. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Diana Ellis she is an outdoor cat. She knew well our surroundings. She was very active, and curious. she always at my back door at both feeding times early morning and early evening. I do have to say that there is a stray cat that comes and goes around. Ever since he came by my house for the first time, my male cat left and never came back, three months ago. He never left prior the stray cat. I feel that this could be the same scenario. I feel she left following him, who knows how far she got with him, and now she is missing. She could’ve been taken she could’ve been harmed by a wild animal and I think the same fate happen to my male cat. Honestly, I feel hopeless and super sad. I am an outdoor person. I can tell you that I spend more time outside than inside my home when I am at home and I was always with my cats in the backyard.

ChiquiLena is a beautiful snowshoe Siamese cat — I’m sorry she is lost. Is ChiquiLena an escaped indoor cat or is she allowed to roam freely? Her familiarity with the environment will dictate how to find her. Escaped indoor cats usually hide close by but are too frightened to return or respond when called; while a cat that knows her way around may have become stuck somewhere and needs help getting home. I have recovered many lost cats and assisted others so if you tell me about ChiquiLena I can provide complete instructions that may help. Please understand an escaped cat may emerge when it's dark and quiet to sneak back inside. This usually happens within the first few nights so until I hear back from you please implement this strategy if ChiquiLena got out accidentally: tonight lay a familiar blanket or worn teeshirt flat on the doorstep where she got out (don't use a litter box, bed, trap, or anything conuous) along with a bowl of food. Call her softly to provide a familiar sound and direction (she won't come on command) then watch from inside (DO NOT GO BACK OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT!) and if you see ChiquiLena approach and settle on the food be careful not to startle her. Slowly and quietly provide a clear path inside and she may put an end to the crisis herself. If you can't wait up set an alarm and watch again just before sunrise -- it's a popular time. Also, although some will suggest putting out kitty's litter box, experts say DON’T DO IT. I've never used one in all the times I've been successful recovering a lost cat. Please read this to learn more about why it's neither necessary nor recommended: https://www.facebook.com/notes/lost-cats-georgia/why-we-dont-recommend-putting-your-lost-cats-litter-box-outside/1101245526665296/

Go around late at night calling them with food and flashlight to catch their eyes. Check around your neighborhood under houses and in small places where they may hide. Put stuff out that has yours and their scent on it. Hang flyers around for people to see. Check shelters and vets daily. Update chip info if they have a chip and its has not been update since a move. Ask neighbors to check in their garages incase they ended up trapped in one. I pray you get your baby back safe and soon.
