Found a pet, have it scanned for chip. if no chip owner must provide proof. Lost a pet if chipped notify chip company immediately !
Register lost and found pets with county shelter, https://animalservices.marionfl.org/home-animalservices, 24petconnect website. Go often to shelters to view pets brought in daily, MCAS and HSMC. Pawboost (website) that sends free emails when you get to options to pay stop there they send free, nextdoor ( neighborhood app), helpinglostpets, Ocala Craigslist lost and found, ocala4sale, lost and found. Check rescues as well!
Post fliers to vets, shelters, groomers, rescues around area, door to door.

Check with animal control to see if any reported hit or deceased, and sanitation departments being they pick up deceased as well. We pray this is not the outcome but as an owner I would want to know.
Pets are personal property and fall under Florida Statue 705.102,- 705.104, register with county shelter as lost or found and finder if holding must hold 30 to 90 days in search of owner. County shelter laws differ in holding contact your county shelter! Pets fall under personal property law in Florida. State laws differ than shelter pet county laws. Pets held only so many days at shelter and differ than those Finding (the public) a pet and holding to search for owner.
