Message from Owner

Spiderman is very friendly and will jump into cars or wander into sheds. He went missing a few years ago and was found trapped in a neighbor’s shed. I’m sure he’s either trapped or injured - if he could come he would.

Spiderman is still missing. Thank you for all the support and shares. Please continue to share and encourage people to check their sheds and crawlspaces. It’s also possible he jumped into an open car door. I’d love to reach delivery drivers who were in this area on Wednesday and may have seen him. We miss him and are still hoping to find him safe. Thank you!

. Look at night with a flashlight while calling his name. Look especially under bushes and in neighbors yards garages and sheds. Look up in trees, Leave something outside with his scent on it like his bedding. Leave something outside with your scent on it like an unwashed piece of clothing. Leave out smelly cat food. Hang signs with his photo. Call and visit local shelters and veterinary offices. Good luck!🍀

Hi, I’m so sorry your cat is missing. They generally don’t go far, so here are some tips. I know it's a lot of information & may take a lot of effort, but hopefully there are some things you haven’t already done, & they help bring them home. Don't give up - it can take time. • Here’s a site w/helpful info https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/ • Hang some used bedding with their scent, &/or some of your clothes -hanging it may get the scent further. Sprinkling dirty litter around your yard or leaving the box out could lead to aggressive encounters w/other cats/ animals & is not likely to bring them home. Go out & actively search for your cat – don’t just sit & wait or expect your neighbors to crawl around to look under their decks and sheds. • After dark or at dawn, go 10 yards from where lost w/flashlight. Stand still, gently call & look/listen for movement - check around your house & ask if YOU can check your neighbors’ yards & look for eyeshine: up in trees, & under bushes, decks, porches, sheds, drains, cars, etc. Check to see if they're locked in nearby sheds/ bats/ crawl spaces/ garages, especially if anyone had work done recently w/doors open. Check & call into storm drains at different places near your home. Sound echoes & carries through the tubes. They may go there to hide, but wherever they go, they hide well and can stay very still for a long time. Even with a flashlight, you might miss them. • If lost for several days, consider setting up a feeding station near where she was lost using a large clear storage container on its side to keep the food dry. Maybe reposition home security cameras or try a wildlife camera to try & spot them. • If seen, carrying treats or a can of tuna may get them to come closer. If spotted but they won’t come, or you know the area where last seen, try putting out a humane feral cat trap – available on Amazon, or at some pet & supply stores like Southern States or Home Depot. Do Not leave a trap set open for long hours without checking often and do not leave out overnight unchecked. • If it’s cold out, try putting a heating pad on low in a box or crate on the porch. • If you’ve had a service person in your house recently, check the areas where they were. A neighbor found their cat locked in the attic after the AC folks left, & a friend found theirs in a crawl space under a neighbor’s house. • Put up signs/fliers in your area, share pic & info w/animal control, rescues, & vets in your area, & post on lost pet pages: • Lost & Found Pets - Richmond, VA • Lost or Found Pets in Chesterfield, Richmond & all over Virginia • Richmond, VA – Lost Dogs, Cats & Pets – PawBoost Community • Lost & Found Pets - Richmond, VA Every county I think has some sort of lost pet page, or animal control facilities usually have a page. Report directly & post online. • Nextdoor.com, Pawboost.com, Ring Neighbors, & report to animal control for Richmond & Henrico or your county - www.rva.gov/animal-care-control/lost-found-animals henrico.us/police/animal-protection-unit/. • If they’re microchipped, update your info & flag them as lost/ missing. If they wander off or escape regularly & will wear a collar, try a tracker like an AirTag. • Here’s a very helpful video for lost cats: youtu.be/g2eCoC63B9I - Some other sites w/good info for lost, stray or feral cats: petfbi.org/, Alley Cat Allies, Missing Animal Response Network, Professional Pet Trackers, www.neighborhoodcats.org/, alleycatadvocates.org/. I imagine you may have done some/most of these, but don’t give up. I hope your baby is back home safe soon. Feel free to pass these along to others who are going through the same thing.

Call Animal Control ASAP. Put flyers everywhere and ask neighbors to check their garages, tool sheds and crawl spaces. Continue actively looking for him and put out food and water and bedding at your house.
