Message from Owner

Hugh (sonion) is our beloved boy, we had only had him for about 6 months where we had gone through the process of acclimating him to people after adopting him from another home. He’s extremely friendly which is giving us hope he might be found. Just as things started looking up with a significant upgrade to his cage, getting his food right for him to lose weight, and scoping out where to buy another bird to befriend we where in disbelief a careless action had caused us to lose our bird:(. A visit of many family members for a funeral, Hugh was free to mingle with everyone for the evening and with all the moving in and out of the space Hugh slipped out and no one had realized the silence for a long time. We have been looking on foot but it never occurred to me I could look for some support group outside of my direct neighborhood so this is a last Hail Mary. If you've seen Hugh or know of anyone who may have taken him in, please reach out. He is deeply loved and very missed.

Someone posted a parakeet that was in the street in South hadley. I believe it was the south hadley/granby community page. It was blue - but I don’t remember who posted but maybe if you search that site or ask an administrator you will find it.

Hang his cage outside with some food in it. Door open. If he’s around maybe he’ll fly in???

Be sure to reach out to Animal Control, TJO, 781-1484, to report the loss. Anyone finding a stray pet is supposed to report the find to them. That's how we got our bird back when she flew the coop (so to speak) she was well over a mile from home.

I thought I saw something on Facebook about our bird being found a few days ago. It may have been in South Hadley, but I’m not sure.
