Description

Gray and white with white paws. We believe she may have been attacked by another animal because we found half of her tail and her collar in some brush. We are not ruling out foul play as the collar was laying on the only rock in the area and the tail was about a foot away from it. She was clearly injured but we've been told that losing half of her tail would not necessarily be fatal. She's 15 years old and is very much missed by her family and our other cat.

Message from Owner

Last seen Saturday 3/21 at 12:30 a.m. on ring camera. Found half of her tail along with her collar in a clearing in the woods. We believe she may have been attacked by a fox but we cannot rule out fair play as her collar was found placed on the only rock around. This is not a traveled path, it's covered with thorn bushes and brush. Reward is being offered.

Melinda Leeah Lee I live here, most likely not to sound mean but wildlife. I've seen everything from fox, coyotes, raccoons, snappers the size of tires, snakes and deer in the 14 years I have been here. God know what I haven't seen. Its a nature preserve. We're also not to leave our pets unattended here. Standard apartment rules like dogs on leashes and things of that nature. It was updated in one of their post that the tail was xrayed and found to have teeth/puncture marks.

Omg. To owners: Hoping you've launched an all-out search/rescue op in the woods. This may be a case where a professional canine tracker could help. Consider that kitty is likely hiding and relying on smell sense. May be in a tree. Keep up with quiet searching, use scent lures - scents of home (unwashed clothes, shoes), yummy tuna/sardines/treats - but obviously be careful with food in the woods. Consider a reputable canine or other tracker (but I'm not speaking from experience). Best best wishes for safe recovery of this kitty 💜💜 Get on it!!

Try these tips: Indoor cats that get outside usually stay close but they will hide b/c they get scared of the new sounds and textures outside. Check all hiding places (under decks/porches, sheds, bushes, parked cars, up in trees, in storm drains or other exposed pipes). Ask your neighbors to check those areas of their yards and to open their sheds/garages in case the cat went in unseen and got locked in. Post flyers in your neighborhood b/c not everyone uses fb or knows about these lost/found pet sites. File a report with your local shelter and give them a picture so if someone brings in your cat they will be able to more quickly reunite you. Go in person and ask to see all the cats. Do not rely on staff to visualize your cat the same way you do. Do not rely strictly on pictures posted on their website in case the site is not up-to-date or not all-inclusive. Cats will come out at night to search for food so put a dish of smelly cat food outside near the door the cat most likely went out. You can also try going out at night with a flashlight to see if you can get the reflection of the light in its eyes. Shared and prayingFollow these tips...they work :) Owners of lost cats on the lost and found pet pages have said that these tips work, especially numbers 1, 3 and 5: 1. Put wet/smelly food out in the evening. Pick it up during the day or if you notice it's attracting strays. 2. Put a trail of dirty litter from the box all along the edge of your yard and along trees and bush lines close by and along side any chin trails. Do not out the entire litter box outside. 3. Put out an unwashed article of your clothing or a dirty sheet/towel/t-shirt. You can also make "scent strips" from these items and place them in trails leading to your door. 4. Go out in the evening with a flashlight and look under porches, sheds, etc. 5. You can make chum trails leading to your door by using a can of canned tuna in water (no oil) or canned cat food and a gallon of warm water. Shake well and sprinkle in trails leading to your door. 6. Your cat will be most active between dusk and dawn. Trying shaking a bag of treats and softly calling your cat's name while searching with a flashlight to catch the reflection of your cat's eyes. 7. Get fliers up right away with phone numbe r asking for sightings right away and ask neighbors to check garages, etc. 8. File a lost report with the appropriate shelter and visit *in person* often. Most cats do not go far, especially those that are not used to spending time outdoors. Every 2 seconds a pet is lost..MICROCH IP!! ! I

If normally an indoor cat, then kitty is likely hiding real close to home. They tend to freeze in place and may not come out if you call their name. Use a flashlight to look in, under, behind all dark spaces so that their eyes glow. You can do this during the day, but especially at night when things are quieter. Check inside the house as well just in case. Look up in trees in case kitty climbed up to escape another animal. Put some of your dirty laundry and the cat’s bedding outside for the scent. Leave a door cracked open so they can get back inside. Set up trail cameras outside and use a humane trap that you can buy at a hardware store or borrow from a rescue. Ask neighbors to check garages and sheds. Hang LOST signs in your area. Post on Nextdoor app, Ring app, area facebook pages, and lost and found facebook pages. Make sure microchip information is accurate. Check local animal shelters in person. Check 24petconnect website using your zip code for intakes.

Post on Nextdoor and Ring apps. Ask neighbors to check car hoods, garages and sheds immediately. Make sure to tap hoods of the car around. Keep an entryway open for cat to get in. Buy or loan a live cat trap from online stores or local tnr groups. Leave your garage open with cat to enter. Put some food and your clothing there for smell. Get a motion sensor camera to detect when cat is around your property
