From finder: “ FOUND DOVE: Seeking Owner in the Tacoma/Wapato area. I found an incredibly tame, friendly dove in my yard near Wapato Park area. This is definitely a lost pet, as it walked right up to me and is completely comfortable having me pick it up. It is safely contained, fed and hydrated, but I want to get this sweet bird back to its rightful home. It does NOT seem injured in any way. If you think this is your bird, please message me to identify it. To ensure it goes back to the correct owner, please be prepared to describe any specific coloring/markings, or provide the exact number/letters on its leg band if it has one. Thank you but this is a domesticated Ringneck dove and definitely someone’s pet, there are no wild Ringneck doves in the U.S. as they are a domesticated species and all city pigeons you see are actually domesticated feral rock pigeons that shouldn’t even be in the wild in the first place. This dove would absolutely not survive in the wild, it was already almost picked off by wild birds when the finder found it. The best thing to do is reunite this little one with its owner.

I talked with my neighbor. She only has one dove. I forwarded the link to her to check with people that used to breed and show them, but most are retired from it I guess we do have a bunch of wild doves in Fife. Looks young and if it's not banded, it's probably a this year baby from the wild doves. If it's healthy enough to be set free, I would probably just do that in the same area you found it.
