Wanted to share these tips to help find a lost pet. Another social media is Craigslist. Check and post under their community section of lost and found area. Their are some people like the elderly who choose not to be on facebook. Others are taking a break from facebook. Also any lost pets websites for your area. The ones we know of here in Central Iowa are: www.IowaPetAlert.com www.PawBoost.com AHeinz57 Missing Mutts (facebook) AHeinz57 Lost Cats (facebook) Lost Dogs Iowa (facebook) www.NextDoor.com Missing Pets (facebook) Put flyers around and let vet clinics around your area know. Go daily to your local shelters and check. Don't call your shelters. Here in Central Iowa our local HyVee grocery stores, Casey's gas stations,Tractor Supply and Ace Hardware have community bulletin boards for flyers. Those in smaller communities check with your Post Office if you can put a flyer up there as well. Be sure to alert your local mailman, delivery drivers, bus drivers and garbage collectors. They are in the neighborhood daily and may spot your pet. Call your local animal control to see if they have pick him/her up and which shelter they took him/her to. If you have a garage put his/her food, water, and a box (or live trap if you have one) with some of YOUR unwashed t-shirts with your scent on them in it for him/her. Note those who have lost a cat DO NOT put out the litter box as predators will pick up your cat scent and will stay close by waiting for your cat as their meal. Ask your neighbors to check their security cameras, garages, sheds and to look under their deck. If you or you know somebody that has a drone that can help assist you in finding your lost pet also. Our prayers for the family.

Make a lost report here: https://24petconnect. com/ Remove the space between the . and com The Humane Society uses this site. ‼IMPORTANT‼ CHECK THE STRAY HOLD BUILDING IN PERSON! Be sure to visit the Stray Hold building next to the Humane Society to check if your pet is there. Even if they are chipped! Also, please DON'T rely on them telling you over the phone. There's several animals to keep track of. It's important and your responsibility to go in person and check if your pet is there.

TIPS.... ✳✳ First things to do!....Get strong scented soft food out. Canned tuna which works best! Also put out his/her USED litter box ASAP! The scent will draw him/her back. ✳✳✳ Put some strong smelling food out to draw him/her back.(soft cat food or tuna... tuna is generally stronger in scent) Cats have a great sense of smell. Also put out his/her USED litter box and something that has his/her and your scent on. (blankets/cat bed) Keep some items in your garage with the door open a crack or on your porch so they have a protected area when they find their way back. Look at night by calling their name and shine a flashlight in / under trees and decks etc to look for their reflective eyes. Check the Humane Society/ Animal Control office in person and leave them a pic and details in case he/she is brought in. It's important to file a lost pet report with them and continue to check the local stray hold building in person. Talk to your neighbors. Have them check around their homes and especially in their garages and sheds. It's common for cats to sneak in unknowingly and hide. Also post fliers at your local vet clinics and around your neighborhood. I hope your kitty finds his/her way back home! Odds are he/she's close by and hiding.
