Please reach out to Lost Dogs Illinois. They helped me find my dog after visiting a new area & gone 10days/10miles away from the orginal place he left. It was someone with a Ring camera who spotted him. Also, prepare signage per LD & post. Here are the steps from LD ✳️ If your pup is shy/skittish, please do not post sightings. Calling out their name, whistling, or chasing may cause your dog to bolt or run into traffic. ✳️ Please post on Lost Dogs Illinois (LDI) by registering your dog at the PetFBI website. You will receive two free flyers to print and post in your neighborhood as well as tips and best practices on how to recover your lost dog. This is a free service. ✳️ Leave food, water and a scent item (ie unlaundered shirt, towel with your scent on it) where the dog went missing. Oftentimes dogs will return to where they were lost from. ✳️ Share the post and start spreading the word on social media, including Next Door and Neighbors Ring App ✳️ Flyers are most important right now! There are many people not on social media, so the more people that see that flyer, the better. ✳️ Put a large lost dog sign in your yard. ✳️ If chipped, call the chip company asap & make sure it’s registered & up to date! ✳️ Microchips can be missed during scanning and collars/ID tags do fall off. Please DO NOT wait for someone to call you. Be proactive. ✳️ Alert your Animal Control and Police Department too (where applicable, as this is not an option in Aurora) and check with them daily. SCAM alert! Please be careful with anyone claiming to have your dog and asking for a 6 digit google code to prove you are a human. It is a scam and in full force. Also, beware of anyone asking for money for your dog back. NEVER send money until you have possession of your dog. Please disregard no matter how persistent the scammers are! Good luck! I hope you find your dog soon.
