I am cat sitting and this is my worst nightmare come true, please help!

He's probably hiding well. Under something. Put a piece of the owners clothing outside or a owners blanket on the back porch will or could bring him out of hiding. Sit outside and talk awhile and the cat may come to you. Ask neighbors to check their properties for you. But he's close as they don't roam to far to fast. Godspeed Post on Nextdoor.com too.
