Diana Ellis Eva most likely escaped from the side door that opens to the backyard. The front camera allows us to see a little bit of the passage to that door but not the full door itself. The food we put with her blanket that she lays on is close to the door but also in view of the camera. I have also put one of my shirts outside for a home scent. Nothing in our front porch or lawn should be preventing her. All the neighbors know. We have put flyers all over the neighborhood plus the neighbors have also been checking the ring cameras.

Julian Lopez, so Eva escaped from the front door and that's where you place the food at dusk. Do you have a familiar blanket on the doorstep? Have you noticed anything on camera that would make Eva hesitate to return? Have you been searching silently during the daytime to find her hiding spot and are all neighbors aware she's lost?

Diana Ellis the horses are confined to the barn overnight. No the food has been ate my any cats and we have a ring camera right in front of the food. It’s near the door where Eva got out.

Julian Lopez, are the horses confined to a barn overnight? Has the food you left at Eva's point of escape been eaten overnight (or have you noticed those stray cats coming close to the house)? Do you have any cameras monitoring the area near the door where Eva got outside?

Diana Ellis the only thing I can think about is the horses in the back of our house. There is a house with horses + there are a couple of stray cats in the neighborhood. Other than that I don’t think of anything else besides the construction outside the neighborhood.

Julian Lopez, I'm so sorry. Over the past couple of nights have you observed anything that may suggest why she's failed to return (stray cats, critters, or people outside after dark, noise or commotion, objects set in her path, etc.)? If you describe what's happened overnight I can suggest what to do next. You may still be in the window of opportunity for Eva to come back on her own so something must be keeping her in hiding. If we can figure out what it is, you may have success with this technique before having to try something more complicated.

Elene Maria Kunkel thank you so much for the tips. I have been posting everywhere so that is something I have been on top of. We are going to start knocking door to door and put flyers up. We will also begin contacting shelters and filing her as missing to the microchip company. Thank you so much again. We really hope she comes back it hurts us all.

TIPS TO HELP FIND LOST PET:✅Place his/her bedding, your shoes, a piece of your unwashed clothing (such as a sweatshirt, blanket, pillowcases) and food/water outside *if there is coyotes in the area bring the food in at night*.🚫Do not put litter box outside. Putting the litter box outside can attract predators and other cats which might keep your cat from returning home🚫*Putting out the other items listed above, are scents only your cat will recognize* ‼️ They might be nearby and can’t figure out how to get inside ***IF you have a garage or door/sliding door that can be left open*** Leave the garage/ or door cracked for them and place the shoes, bedding, jand unwashed clothing in the garage‼️ ✅Walk around the area calling them calmly early morning and late evening when it’s quiet & shake a bag of treats or a squeaky toy, something they would recognize. ✅If he/she is microchipped contact the microchip company to report him/her lost and make sure your contact info is up to date. ✅Hang flyers (use a bright color board or paper) with picture in your neighborhood, surrounding areas, local shopping centers, businesses, vet's offices, groomers, etc. within a five mile radius from your home. ✅Go door to door with the flyers as well and try to speak with people when handing out flyers. ✅Make a sign with his/her picture and put it in your front yard stating he/she is missing. ✅File a lost report with the shelters in your area and surrounding area shelters ✅Check shelters in person, daily if possible. Ask to see the animals in isolation too. ✅Check shelter websites daily (as it is updated hourly) ✅Check shelter found reports for found postings but not at the shelter. ✅Take a flyer to the shelters. ✅File online with petharbor, pawboost ✅Post on area lost and found pet and community Facebook pages, area shelter Facebook pages, newspapers, nextdoor and Craigslist under "pets" and "Lost and Found". Cats usually are close to home. Hang clothes with your scent out. Ask your neighbors if they would look in their yard or garage or storage sheds to see if he is there or check their Ring camera to see if he was spotted on camera. Make sure you post fliers with your contact information on it so if he is spotted they can call you and tell his location. Keep an access point open for him to slip back in your home. Look in bushes or hiding spots around your home as if he is scared he will make himself safe by finding a hiding spot. Sometimes the best time to find your cat is when the noise level is low - after hours - or early morning hours. Take a flashlight 🔦 and shine and look for the eyes 👀 under cars up trees in bushes.
