I copied the following messages from other people giving advice on finding lost cats. If Indoor Fixed Kitties: Indoor fixed kitties rarely go far and are usually found hiding scared nearby. Look under everything...porches, decks, sheds, cars, bushes, etc. Look at night and into the wee hours of the morning with a flashlight to see eyes glowing. Ask/tell neighbors. Flyers = sightings. Consider using a humane trap ASAP. Please no litter box outside because it can attract predators and potentially keep your kitty from returning. Prayers for a safe return. If you're able you can also try leaving a door, garage door or window cracked open to let kitty come back in. A video doorbell or trail camera can be helpful to see if kitty is coming around when you're sleeping. Honestly - the magic time is 11p-6a in spring/summer (8pm-6am in fall/winter) - when no humans are outside. That is when they feel comfortable coming out of hiding. Sit on steps/porch by where cat escaped - talk softly. Let cat come to you. Avoid eye contact. Lost pets will not act "normally" - they are in survival mode. Very important!! Please double check to make sure the microchip is REGISTERED and up to date with your current information and telephone number incase someone finds your cat and takes it somewhere to get scanned so that they can call you. You should have the chip number in your paperwork from who IMPLANTED the chip in. You will need the BRAND of chip to be able to call them and check to see if it is REGISTERED and up to date. If you only have the number and Not the BRAND of chip you can enter it for free on this national website. When you enter the chip number in it will ONLY tell you the BRAND so that you can call them and check to see if it is REGISTERED and up to date with your current information and telephone number. https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/

Is she fixed also?? If so.....probably hiding scared under something nearby or stuck in a garage or shed. Go outside any time but especially at dark and into the wee hours of the morning with a flashlight and look under things to see eyes glowing. My indoor cat recently got out and was gone for 3 days. They tend to hide close to home and typically won’t come when called or even with treats because they are so scared. We were able to bring our kitty back by using a safe trap with sardines for bait. We caught our kitty the first time we used it around 6:30 in the morning. Also, the usually come out of hiding late at night through early morning because it is quiet. He has probably tried to come back during your sleep hours. I wanted to pass on this information because so many people reached out to me to help when our kitty was lost and I want to pay it forward. I know how scary and heart wrenching it is when a pet is lost. I hope this helps and you have your kitty back soon.

Post if you need to borrow a humane trap & need shown how to use it ASAP. They don’t usually go far from where they got out. Put tuna, mackerel, kfc, rotisserie chicken or other stinky food in trap that can also be heated up & sprinkle catnip in & around it. Put an item of hers or yours if you cuddle with her by trap, but don’t leave any material outside unmonitored because cat could freeze to it. Missing cats walked in an open door or partially opened garage door or jumped in open window in the evening & late overnight hours since it’s quieter outside during that time, if you are able to monitor doing that, and others showed up at owners front door when they kept opening it frequently to look for their cat. When it’s quiet in evenings & early morning hours, sit outside calling softly for her shaking a treat or food bag & also walk around doing the same. Shine a flashlight to catch sight of her eyes. She’s in survivor mode, so don’t make sudden movements or loud noises if you see her. Sit down at her level. A lot of cats return home between 1-2 am.
