Charity Burnette Maybe I am mistaking him for another dog then that kind of looks like him. I see a dog that looks kind of like him somebody walks at the lake. I have not seen the dog loose always with someone. But if I do see your dad’s dog loose I will let you know & will keep my eye out for him. I hope he finds him!

Cherie Lunsford I was just wondering if you seen him running loose because he has never been walking there before because he is afraid of strangers and other dogs as well. My dad rescued him from a really bad home, so he's not very socialized.

The "Path of Least Resistance": Chihuahuas will avoid difficult terrain. When seeking water or food, they often travel along residential roads, sidewalks, or railroad tracks. Instead of wandering openly near large bodies of water, they are far more likely to hunker down in tight, hidden spaces during the day. Check under porches, inside sheds, beneath thick brush, or under parked cars. Don't Chase or Call Out: When in survival mode, a dog may not recognize its owner's voice or face and will run away from you. Set up a Station: Leave a bowl of water, a crate, and a piece of your worn clothing (like a t-shirt or pillowcase) near the area they were last seen. Your scent will comfort them and encourage them to stay put. Search at Dawn and Dusk: Lost dogs tend to hide silently during the day and move to find food and water when it is quiet and dark.

Post on Nextdoor. Check with area shelters daily and go there in person too. Shelters are overwhelmed now.

Cherie Lunsford which lake are you referring to? I assume Lake Tomahawk, but there's one behind the camp as well.
