Mogwai went missing on Tuesday 6/16/2026 most likely after 4PM and before 9PM. He is a white male persian with one eye (as a result of surgery a couple of years ago) and very easy going demeanor. He is about 11 years old and was adopted from Dessin Animal Shelter, Honesdale, PA. Please if you see him notify us or Dessin. He has a loving family who misses him.

Message from Owner

Please bring Mogwai home! He was missing late evening 06/16/2026 and we have not seen him since. He has one eye, is neutered, and very friendly.

Try lostmykitty.com they have a service that sends out a lost pet alert to the phones in your area with a description and your phone number asking people to check their basements, garages and sheds. There is a fee, but that’s how I found my cat. If you can print out flyers, give some to the mail carriers and your neighbors and put them on their porches as well as on telephone poles. Also give them to the animal shelters and the veterinarian’s offices. If there are businesses nearby, ask if you can put a flyer in their window. 🙏💔

Tony Iovacchini that's possible that someone could've picked him up. A lot of indoor only fixed kitties that get lost outside act differently when lost outside and may not come to you, even if normally would. Consider setting up a trap ASAP and it must be monitored.

Danica Skokut We appreciate your feedback. Mogwai would come to me if he heard my voice. We searched every possibility (had some kind volunteers who helped also) and there's no sign of him for hundreds of yards. He's a lap cat and loves nothing more than being brushed, petted and sitting with me. The problem is that he's not guarded or cautious. He wouldn't run from a stranger and would allow them to pick him up. I honestly think that's what happened.

Is kitty indoor only also?? If so...probably hiding scared under something nearby or stuck in a garage or shed. Go outside any time right now and into the wee hours of the morning with a flashlight and look under things to see eyes glowing. Indoor fixed kitties rarely go far and are usually found hiding scared nearby. Look under everything...porches, decks, sheds, cars, bushes, etc. Look at night and into the wee hours of the morning with a flashlight to see eyes glowing. Ask/tell neighbors. Flyers =sightings. Consider using a humane trap ASAP. Please no litter box outside because it can attract predators and potentially keep your kitty from returning. Prayers for a safe return. If you're able you can also try leaving a door, garage door or window cracked open to let kitty come back in. A video doorbell or trail camera can be helpful to see if kitty is coming around when you're sleeping.

Our family and some kind volunteers searched a large area of our property and the closest neighbors (we don't really have a neighborhood as it's rural road). There is no sign of him anywhere or of a possible conflict with another animal. He always comes when I call him (he's a lap cat who waits for me to wake in the AM, follows me during the day and sits with me in the evening). At this point we believe someone perhaps thought he was a stray and took him.

Rent or borrow a humane trap. The SPCA and other animal shelters rent them out for $100. When you return the trap you get your $100 back. Place the trap near where the cat escaped. Put some of the cat's favorite food and treats inside of the trap along with an article of your clothing with your scent on it. This method worked for me on two different occasions. If you trap the wrong cat or some other animal, put a blanket over the trap leaving the door exposed. Stand behind the trap and release the animal. Reset the trap. Time is of the essence so do this asap. Good luck and God bless.
