What rescue has the dog? They must be held accountable at least socially. Laws are in place for good reason. Hope the rightful owner gets their pup back 🥲Read More
Pup is safe with a rescue. Unfortunately, the rescue is suddenly confused on Riverside County ordinances regarding found pets.
To adopt out/rehome this pup, rescue is REQUIRED a 30 day hold. They’ve denied that’s true. I’m overly aware rescue previously followed the ordnances.
Here is very literally how RCDAS views this situation.
(RCDAS)—and is legally bound by specific hold times. The Mandatory Legal Hold TimesThe exact timeframes required before a stray dog can be legally rehomed or adopted out include:3 to 10 Days (If Surrendered to County Shelter): If the dog is turned over directly to a municipal facility, the official holding period is 3 days for unchipped animals and up to 10 days for microchipped pets to allow for owner redemption.
30 Days (If a Rescue or Finder Holds the Pet): If a non-profit or a private citizen chooses to physically keep and care for the dog while searching for the owner, California property laws dictate that they must hold the pet for 30 days.
