Gus has been missing since Friday in East Abbotsford. He is not wearing a collar but is microchipped. He is very friendly but is probably very scared. Please contact me (Amanda) at if found

If this is an indoor only cat that never goes out, look close. Indoor only cats when lost get scared and hide because it is unknown territory and usually do not come out when you call. Usually are within 3 or 4 houses . Put out something with your scent such as a piece of clothing or blanket. Call at dusk, dawn and night and shake the treats. Get in your neighbour's yards and look under decks, sheds, in trees, bushes or anywhere they can hide. Also, check under cars, by wheel wells and under hood. Put up lots of posters. If you are searching at night, use a flashlight as their eyes glow in the dark. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=388310901737884

Likely within 5 or 6 houses away. Ask neighbours to check sheds, garages and under decks and bushes. Go out with flashlight when quiet and dark. Get posters up asap. Leave soiled article of your clothing outside to draw home. Leave door open a few inches and kitty may walk inside typically between 2 and 4 am. Motion lights and security cameras are really helpful. Make sure your microchip information is up to date or it will be useless. Good luck!

Please place several pieces of your smelliest clothing (dirty socks, sweat-soaked t-shirts, sneakers, etc) in a protected place outside your home to create a scent trail. Add/change items daily to keep scent strong. Look at night, not just during the day. When calling, TRY to keep your voice calm and encouraging. Make contact and stay in touch with all nearby rescue groups and vets. Don"t give up. Check under patios, in bats, thick brush / high up in trees, garages, sheds, boats, cars, trucks. Check in crawl spaces, closets, under box springs, in drawers and in closed toy boxes. They are really good at hiding. Ask your neighbours to please check in their sheds, garages, back yards. Leave a piece of your unwashed clothing with your scent on it outside. Put up posters. Most inside cats don't venture too far unless chased or picked up. While looking in all those hiding spots at night use a flashlight as you may see their eyes reflection. Sometimes stress makes them disoriented, so it may be hiding under a neighbour’s house, or in a covered boat. Never give up hope... they are anxious to get home as well. Call relentlessly in a very high and intelligible voice for 5 minutes every half hour minimum. Use a flashlight at night and shine in bushes etc. Their eyes will shine in the dark. Be consistent, many rescuers use this method as it works particularly well on indoor only cats...your cat will be close to home within 5 to 6 houses from your’s on either side. It will be scared and hiding, hunkered down under something...check under stairs porches and decks also under bushes at night time with a flashlight. Bring a bag of treats with you and shake it while you call. CONSISTENCY is KEY...do this ASAP, don’t wait, time is very important while your cat is close to home. Good luck and never give up.
