From the experts (this is copy & paste): IMMEDIATELY CHECK ALL SMALL SPACES!! Under houses, in sheds, in culverts, wells, every small space! Check in closets, under beds, behind dressers, in outbuildings. Go to the shelter IN PERSON, at least every other day. They are required to hold strays for only 3 days if there is no chip. IMMEDIATELY cut several smelly socks into strips and hang everywhere outside. Lost dog experts also highly recommend putting the dog's bedding outside. Create flyers, give to the mailperson, sanitation workers, vets, shelters, pin to bulletin boards at groc stores, tape to bus stops, etc. Also, highly recommend posting to as many lost pet sites as possible. Here are some, starting with the best: PETFBI.ORG, FIDOFINDER.COM, PETAMBERALERT.COM, CRITTERALERT.COM, LOSTMYDOGGIE.COM, PETALERTUSA.ORG, PAWMAW.COM, FOUNDLOSTDOGS.COM, LOSTPETALERT.COM, ILOVEPETS.COM, MYLOSTPETALERT.COM, PETCOLOVE.COM, FINDTOTO.COM, LOST_DOG.ORG, FINDAPAW.COM VERY IMPORTANT!!! Post to NEXTDOOR.COM & CRAIGSLIST.COM - many reunited in these free sites. Obtain a 'Live Trap', place near where missing, but away from roads, and in shade. Put smelly dog bedding or owner's smelly socks inside, & put water to drink. Lost dog trackers highly recommend grilling bacon outdoors! They also recommend spreading Liquid Smoke around the house.

message for owner: please check with the animal shelter and leave a picture there, better to check in person and do it often, sometimes they don't give right information over the phone. You can check the web page 24petconnect which is linked to some shelters, you just need to enter your zip code and you can also submit a Lost Pet report there. Please make flyers preferably with a picture to post them in the area where the dog was last seen, check often with your local vets in case someone took your dog either injured or sick, check with groomers, talk with your neighbors. Show a picture to your mail person who is all over your area and maybe sees your dog, post a flyer in the windows of your car specially the rear window, post one in your closest Petco or Petsmart, post in Craigslist and also check in Craigslist for those that are for sale as well as Facebook pages that sell pets, you never know if someone found your dog, some people find pets and try to sell them or try to find a new home without trying to find the owners first. Please also post in Craigslist Lost and Found, in Pawboost, nextdoor, in MyLostPetAlert and in findingrover, in the Facebook page RGV Pet Alert Lost and Found, RGV Reunite Lost Pets, and in It´s All About the Animals RGV. Put also a t-shirt or something you just wore outside by your front door, your baby may smell its way back. Prayers so you find your baby soon and please be careful with scammers saying they found your pet, ask them to send pictures so you know if that's true but if not then it's a scam, also be careful when people ask you to send them your cell phone and expect you to send them a code and also with people asking you to send a text to a company or in Instagram which supposedly will help you find your pet, never send codes if somebody asks you, most of them are scammers
