Alexis McLemore you have to do what you can based on your situation. The general suggestions we give might work other places and not work for you. But you can talk to him in your head that you can do from anywhere talk to him and tell him you miss him and you hope he'll come home. But I understand when you're upstairs and that does make it difficult. I once had a cat get out when I was living in an upstairs apartment. Fortunately when I went downstairs to begin to look for him or her I found her crouched in the corner down near my steps. So she was only missing a short time. Just take the suggestions that work for you and ignore the rest of them. We don't know your exact situation so we can only give general suggestions that might work for you and if they don't just ignore them.

Margaret Dexter I’m not really sure how old he is I got him in 2020 at a animal shelter he was kinda smaller I can’t remember the age, we used to stay in a different area when he was a outside cat someone said he could’ve went to there but it’s kinda far I went everywhere calling his name and his nickname I would put something outside but it’s kind of hard bc there’s also other cats walking around and I live on the top floor I could put something on the porch but wouldn’t want him having to climb so high up
