Message from Owner

I have been missing my little old lady for almost 2 days now. She escaped through a screen window while I was on vacay and the sitter was out. She is the sweetest girl, and not skittish. If you call her name sweetly she will probably come up to you. She loves stinky tuna and belly rubs. She had spent the previous 4-5 years outside before I took her in as one of my angels. Please help her come home because she needs her thyroid and I'm incredibly worried.

I can’t stop thinking about Ms Kitty and have looked for her any time I leave the house. Has she been found? 🙏 🥹

Set-up a Scent Station outside, with the owner's dirty clothes/tie socks to trees, etc. (One night that you can monitor, trail food like sardines, etc., through a cracked door, or the window cracked open that she got out from.) Try shaking a treat box outside in the evening...and call for them. Check bushes/trees with a flashlight. Post also to Nextdoor & Pawboost, (their basic service is free.) Put an Ad in the local newspapers. Post Lost Cat signs in the area; Give Flyers to neighbors/Mail and Delivery people; (ask to please check in/under sheds, decks, in crawlspaces, etc. Report lost to area shelters; check often in person, if possible. Hope this helps to locate the lost pet!

Andi Smith Thank you. My family has been trying all that the the past day/night...but I think there's something about Mom and Dad that might make her come out. I have been on a trip, and am less than an hour from home right now. I really am worried, but she's done this her whole life. I just wanted to give her a cushy indoor life after being outside for so long. I have a trap, but it is in my storage facility and I will get it either tonight or tomorrow morning for sure. Thank you for helping bump the post

These are general search tips and not all may apply in your situation. Search at night w/ a flashlight (eyes will glow). Check up in trees and inside/under things in your yard and up to 4 - 5 houses away. Search garages, sheds, under decks and bushes, in crawl spaces, behind AC units - any place the cat might be trapped or hiding. Many cats go into hiding mode for safety and won't come when they hear their owner's voice but try calling and try either shaking a can/bag of treats or carrying an open (smelly) can of cat food or fish. Put something w/ the cat's scent on the porch (cat bed, scratching post, sofa pillows). Keep your garage door up enough to allow entry. Keep fresh bowls of water out. Put up large missing cat posters (neon poster board works well), talk to neighbors (leave info for those not home), post on all local social media groups and make sure to check with local animal control at least once a week (better to go in person but at least call and send them a photo). If not found at night with a flashlight, go out during early morning, before dawn, as many cats are active around that time. If not found in a few days, you can always buy a humane cat trap but traps *must* be checked multiple times each day, every day. If the cat is microchipped, please make sure the chip company has your updated contact information. And even if the cat has a chip, you still need to check with animal control as chips sometimes are overlooked or migrate down. Please search often and don't give up hope.
