Makiyah LaShell from ACCT: ‼️ URGENT ‼️ Velvet ACCT-A-259682 👉 for the most up to date notes, please refer to the link in the comments 👈 **$25 in pledges to any rescue that may pull!** Velvet ACCT-A-259682 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Velvet must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH at 10AM. Should Velvet's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Velvet is an adult male Rottweiler who came to ACCT Philly on August 24th after an incident in which he was startled and bit his finder. The bite broke skin, but according to the finder, Velvet immediately returned to his previous relaxed and friendly behavior. Now finished with his bite quarantine, Velvet has been easy to handle and has shown a sweet, affectionate side with staff and volunteers. He has a loose, wiggly body when approached, readily allows leashing, and walks with minimal pulling. He has enjoyed time outside, playing with a ball and seeking out attention, including putting his head back through the kennel door for more scratches. Velvet has also had a good introduction to another dog. He showed some initial stiffness and lip licking during face-to-face interaction but remained tolerant and was able to engage appropriately. Due to his bite history, Velvet is seeking placement with a rescue partner where his behaviors can be further evaluated. While he has been social and easy to handle at ACCT, continued evaluation will help determine his ideal home. Was allowing pets and playing with a ball. Volunteer was able to pick up ball when it was on the ground near him. Per staff 9/4: Approached kennel and Velvet had soft eyes laying in bed. As I pulled out my leash he got up and stood at the door with a loose, wiggly body. I came right into the kennel with him to get the leash on and he took some neutral sniffs of my hand, leash, and body as I put on his leash. Exited kennel together and he waited eagerly with a wagging butt at the door to the outside. On leash Velvet walks with minimal pulling, following as I walked through the parking lot into the play yard. Coming out from dog meet and going back into kennel, he went in by himself but put his head in the door as I closed it, he wanted more head scratches from me. Per staff 9/4: Good dog meet with Pauly. Neutral sniffs through the fence, then did a little play bow. He lip licked at first and was somewhat stiff with face to face greetings. He was very focused on sniffing and licking the hind end of the other dog. Other dog briefly sniffed his hind end and he turned around so they were face to face again. He was very tolerant even when the other dog began licking his mouth. Per staff 9/2: ACA stated Velvet was easy to handle, no walking issues, super sweet and cuddly. One of the easier rotties they have handled. Per staff conversation with finder 8/26: When he went to pet the dog he did not notice the treat in his mouth and the dog gave a warning nip and made contact on his finger. Otherwise the dog was great with them. Per finder 8/26: Very very friendly. We truly believe the bite was a one-off from being startled and nothing else. He immediately returned back to his sweet nature after the quick nip. Per staff 8/24: Upon arrival, dog had loose body language, tail wagging, soft eyes, easily leashed, and climbed right in the truck. Allowed me to pet him and reach over his head to scan for microchip. Caller also stated that after the bite, which was LVL 3, he went back to having relaxed body language, tail wagging, and rolling on his back soliciting pets. They believe he was just startled by a sudden movement when the finder went to pet him. MEDICAL NOTES: Velvet is currently being treated for pneumovirus, which is a type of "doggy cold." It is contagious to other dogs, but not to people or other types of animals. -- Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open-intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly's Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313.

Dog, from what I know, went back w his mother. I was there while he was crossing back & forth between the lots on Diamond street & 29th street. Very friendly, did approach my brother & when- who I’m assuming is mom came, he walked back with her. His response to her when she walked up gives that was his mother.
