Scent items are very important. Leave something you’ve worn on the deck or lawn … if you have another animal, put a blanket they’ve used or a kitty bed outside …. NO litter boxes. The cat can get your scent from quite a distance. Go out and calmly talk and call him/her like you normally would. They sense distress in your voice and will not come or respond so be calm. Also look up in trees under porches/decks, look at night with a flashlight as their eyes glow in the light. If possible set up cameras. She wants to come back, she is just scared and needs guidance. Cats hunker down when they are afraid so try to help her find her way back. She will try to come back in the way she got out so keep a point of entry open if at all possible. I realize for most, this isn’t possible .. but suggested by those who have lost animals. Good luck 🤞🙏

Indoor kitties usually stay close to home. Put something with your scent on it (unwashed clothes) outside .. on your deck or porch. If you have any other cats, put something with their scent out also .. the scent will attract the cat. Check under your porch if you have one … under grills in sheds and garages. Ask neighbors to do the same. The cat could have gotten stuck in a neighbor’s shed or garage when taking shelter. Put flyers in mailboxes. Someone might start feeding the cat and not everyone is on social media. If you have a sighting, set a trap with a worn piece of your clothing. Also look around at night under bushes and in shrubs with a bright flashlight. You may catch the kitties eyes. Looking at night when it’s quieter is better. They’re afraid and want to return. If he went out a window, leave it open if at all possible … the cat might just come in on her own. Often they try to return the way they escaped …..realize this may not be possible for most (leaving a window open, it’s been suggested). Sent from my iPad
