Put the Cat's litterbox, food, and water outside. Check with a flashlight at dusk and dawn (that's when they are most active, also the flash light's beam will reflect off their eyes.) If you have an Indoor Kitty they are likely hiding by your home, concealing themselves from predators and the elements. Ask neighbors, the postman, anyone nearby, and check shelters often.
