My own cat just 2 yrs ago got out when company was over. He was gone almost 3 weeks. I did everything i was instructed to do except I didn't know about putting our bedding/clothing out for the scent. I did however go out and put flyers as you have done. I posted him on the Nextdoor neighborhood app. Prople started communicating. I posted a $50 reward on the posters and on nextdoor. Well a young woman worked about four blocks from my house maybe a little more..and she was feeding a tuxedo cat who kept screaming outside her office window. She was feeding him. She mentioned it to her mom. Her mom contacted me on nextdoor. Her daughter contacted me when she had my cst and was kind enough to keep him in her car with her until I arrived. All of this is to say keep looking and praying. I posted a story about when my son's cat got out. Communication is key.. .i put out sardine juice in the snow for my cat to find his way home and grilled fish outside. I like to think the smell may have kept him in the neighborhood. My neighbors were ready to call the white coats when I was out in my yard at 10 pm grilling sardines and spreading sardine juice from every direction to a ladder leaning to a window that I left open a little..sardine juice on every rung of the ladder. All of it resukted in my boy being home. He had turned "feral" a didnt even look like himself for a week. But he relaxed and settled back in. Please dont lose heart...it takes time..

PLEASE READ IN ENTIRETY AND TO THE END: Your cat is missing, now what should you do? A list of tips to help you find your lost cat. • Most cats do not go far, less than a ¼ of a mile. Most are found close to home or walk back up to the dooyr eventually. We have to say “most” for a reason. An un-neutered male can have a range of up to 10 miles. A neutered male, that is an outdoor cat, can keep a range of up to five miles. Adults that have been neutered after having been outside for a while (stray etc.) can move farther than expected so it helps if you know your cat's past life if they had one before coming to you. • Cats go into survival mode when lost. They can become lost even from the yard they are used to being in. If they are chased by a dog, another cat, or wild animal even just one yard over they might not know the way back. Indoor-only cats that sneak out have an even harder time knowing where to go. Survival mode means they hide all day, come out only at night and look for a way back in. Usually, after midnight and around 3 am to 5 am seems to be the time they feel safest to move around. Regardless of how friendly your cat is it may not come to you when called. Be prepared for your cat to run even if they would never do that inside. • Check with your neighbors, your cat might be unknowingly trapped in a garage/shed or barn. • Look under porches/decks and sheds. Shine a light and look for eyes reflecting. Even if you call your cat if you see him or her they may not come to you. • Find out if anyone feeds stray cats in your neighborhood. Almost every neighborhood has someone that feeds strays. Talk to them and ask them to keep a watch out for a new cat-eating. • Flyers; are the key to folks knowing your cat is missing and not “just another stray”. For an unknown reason, people see a dog and think “lost” right away. They see a cat and think “stray” and don’t give the cat another thought. Hand out flyers house to house and on poles at intersections. Your immediate neighborhood and then at least 2 streets in each direction to start. Simple and short. Lost cat/number and were lost from with a picture. • Cats have an AMAZING sense of smell and will come back to familiar smells. Place the litter box outside on the front or back porch/deck. Favorite food and change moist food at least once a day. Treats if they like them. A shirt or pillowcase that smells like you with the litter box. • If you have an outside motion light and it goes off at night. Go check your cat is probably out there looking for a way back in. When they cannot get in they will go hide all day again. • Contact your local animal control officer. Even if they only take care of dogs, they will likely take the information and keep it in case anyone calls them with a found cat. Contact local vet offices and leave a flyer there. Be sure to ask to see “Clinic” animals. If your cat is injured and you do not ask to see them you might not be invited to look. • Use social media. You can reach 1000s quickly. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Make a Nextdoor lost ad right away. • Research any feral cat colonies in your area. Do not disturb any colonies. Please just leave a note asking them to contact you regarding your lost cat. ALSO, TRY THIS: If your cat has never been outside before, it is best if you get a humane trap. They can be bought at Harbor Freight or Tractor Supply for under $30. Set up near your home AT NIGHT ONLY. Drape with a light tarp (if raining) or towel/t-shirt with your scent. Place very smelly moist cat food in the rear of the trap. Check very early in the morning. Repeat nightly - remove during the day. Cats that have never been outdoors are very frightened and will not move during the day. You may also try to leave your house door open a crack at night while you are home. Your cat may hear your voices and dash in. If you happen to catch a critter or someone else's cat, just release. Don't wait on getting the trap. Your cat will become more feral every day. Good luck.

Shared. Assuming he is strictly an indoor cat: He is likely hiding somewhere very nearby, on your own property or very near. It is rare for an indoor cat to go further than a house or two away. He is terrified and will not come out or respond to your calls. If he comes out at all it will only be at night. Look for him after dark with a flashlight. Look in every tiny space he could possibly squeeze himself into. The flashlight will let you see the glow of his eyes. Put out his litter, some worn clothing with your scent (pillowcases work great, worn socks) and some stinky food (tuna, sardines, KFC). Leave scent trails to your door with something like tuna juice or chicken broth. Indoor cats get lost very easily. In their fear they become disoriented and can’t find their way back to your door even though they are right on your property. But they have a VERY strong sense of smell. Do these things and they will help your baby find his way back to your door. If it’s feasible, leave the door ajar for him. Your indoor cat doesn’t know your house from the outside, but he knows it from the inside. Every house has a smell, and yours smells like “home”. If you leave the door ajar, he will smell it and run right in. Another thing you can do is sleep outside. A few people have done that recently with great success. Best of luck!
