I'm sorry Dexter is missing. Put Dexter's cage out immediately with food in it. Copied from another rescuer, prayers up, keep going and keep the faith! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Lost & found bird sites, retrieval scenarios: please share on the following Facebook pages: ❎Your local township & county Facebook pages & Nextdoor app ❎Lost & Found Birds Of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey & Pennsylvania.. ❎911 Parrot Alert (Official) - search in Facebook. They don’t offer a link ❎Central Jersey Bird Group (I cannot copy link, just search) ❎PawBoost for NJ LOST & found pet ❎Post on NextDoor ❎South Jersey Bird Group ❎New Jersey Parrots & Birds Tri-State NJ/NY/PA ❎New Jersey Pets Lost & Found ❎Lost Pets Of Northern New Jersey ❎Other Lost Pet Sites in various towns/counties If a lost bird won’t come to you after coaxing and other tried tricks, bring a thin bed sheet outside or a pillowcase. Approach slowly backing up towards the bird and don't make eye contact Toss the thin sheet or pillowcase over the bird and gently pick up. *** (lost & found bird page of DE, MD, NJ & PA) Posted on 7-4-22 ❌RETRIEVAL SCENARIOS❌ IF your bird is in a tree or somewhere that requires some coaxing: Here are some retrieval scenarios FOR DAYTIME ONLY PLEASE: including alternating the following (along with favorite foods, treats, shaking a bowl of pellets or treats, water and pouring water from one bowl to another so this bird can see and hear it, eating yummy food and offering to share it with this bird, favorite bonded people, bringing out other flock mates in a safe, secure carrier to help elicit contact calls and to aid in coaxing this bird down.. playing recordings of like-species vocalizations from flock mates or this bird, or even recordings from YouTube..) 1) coaxing this bird to climb/hop downward by standing directly below him or her 2) positioning yourself next to a neighboring tree that offers a clear flight path to a clear landing spot with a slight descent, as lateral flying is easier to manage than descending. 3) getting yourself higher using something already in the environment like the roof of a nearby house, a hill, standing on a fence or a nearby parked car or truck, and coaxing with high value reinforcers (whatever gets this bird excited!) 4) standing back 20-50 ft from the tree to give this bird a clear gradual descending flight path to you.. this bird may circle around a few times and land at the same spot he/she was in, land in another tree, land on the roof of a house, land on the ground.. land on whatever is in this bird’s flight path. With each little flight this bird gains more valuable flight and navigational experience which is wonderful. The goal is to PLEASE STAY WITH YOUR BIRD, remain patient, encouraging, praise all of this bird’s attempts to come down, and allow this bird to gain confidence and build trust that he/she is very capable of coming down on his/her own power. **Play bird singing a loop with nearby open cage

You must act quickly. Your parrot is vulnerable outdoors and likely hasn’t flown far. Here’s clear, step-by-step advice to maximize recovery chances: • Search persistently on foot: Stay out as long as needed, covering your neighborhood thoroughly. Birds will go quiet at dark, but will stay put as their eyesight is terrible in the dark. You must take advantage of daylight hours. • Use sounds to locate: Play familiar calls or YouTube videos of sharp, distinctive flock calls loudly via Bluetooth speaker or phone. Listen for responses. if within earshot, your bird will very likely respond. This can often be a cheat code for finding lost birds as they are easier to locate by sound opposed to sight. • Watch for signs: Look for agitated crows, magpies, or other birds; this may indicate your parrot is nearby. • Spread the word: Notify neighbors door-to-door. Create and put up eye-catching posters everywhere (include photo, description, contact info). Post in local Facebook groups and community apps. Posters are crucial. Most escapes end up stuck up in a tree, unable to descend due to lack of flight experience. • If spotted: Never take your eyes off your bird. Stay patient and persistent; it will come down with time and coaxing (use food, toys, or calls). • Be diligent: A vast majority of domesticated escapees don’t survive without help. Starvation, freezing, or predators are common. Your efforts are their lifeline. https://youtu.be/pYOOyOkFg7Y Play this one. It’s loud, distinct, and on loop.
