Print flyers with your cats picture and your contact information and take them around to your neighbors. Ask them if they see your cat to call you. Ask them also if they’ve been in their shed or out buildings since your cat went missing. A cattle go into a shed or an out building if the door is open because it’s dark and seems safe. Then when the owner closes the doors, the cat can’t get out and you cannot hear a cat crying to get out of the shed unless you’re standing right next to it. If your cat is chipped, make sure your registry has your current contact information. Look under porches and decks, and if there is a house with an open crawlspace, they would could go under there.

Laurie Carpenter, check the shelters and their websites. Virginia Beach Animal Services posts stray intakes every day. These can be animals picked up by Animal Control or brought in by finders. The chip will help immensely if anyone brings your cat to our shelter or takes the cat to a vet for scanning. Hoping for a happy, speedy reunion.

Is the cat microrochipped? File a lost cat report with Virginia Beach Animal Control and Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center on Birdneck Road. Check with Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center on Birdneck Road in person every day. Cats usually don't roam too far from home so shake a container of the cat's kibble outside and call the cat's name repeatedly. Set out the cat's litter box and some bedding with the cat's scent on it. You might want to check with Norfolk Animal Adoption Center too.
