The best time to look for a cat is late at night after the daytime sounds settle down. Go for a walk and take a flashlite scan into the trees and under bushes. A cat can fit in any hole that they can fit their head thru they have collapsible shoulder blades. Most indoor cats stay close to home but come out at night. Most important is to make your presence known. Go out every half hour after 9pm and call for them and stop and listen it's amazing what you can hear late at night. Get your voice and scent out there. They are looking for you also. Look for glowing eyes at night. If there is a dog sibling that the cat likes take the dog on the walk. If you open canned cat food or shake treats do so on your walk. If the cat has a noisy toy shake it on your walk. Make posters and put in every business within a mile of the home. Let your mail carrier know. If there are teenagers in the neighborhood let them know they love reward money and being a hero. Check all local shelters. Let local veterinarians know your info. If there is a feral colony near you check it out. If you can find the feeder of the colony give them your info. Make large signs and put in neighbors yards at least a mile radius of the home. This ensures that everyone in the area has the info. Put post it notes on your neighbors doors to look in sheds and garages. Post on every Facebook forum in your area. Post on Pawboost and For the love of Louie. Check Humane Society. So important to make your presence known every half hour after 9pm. Make a bed out of the cats carrier and put soiled clothes from inside the home around the bed. Put it as close to the house as you can. Leave a shed or garage open check them often. Camp in your yard. Most indoor cats are found late at night. Don't give up. Do not put food out or litter it attracts every animal in the area including raccoon opossum feral cats and coyotes. Your cat will know that there is food inside and that is incentive to keep them close to the house. If you are outside that's OK but take it in when you go back in. If your cat sees a predator eating their food it might make them retreat further. Most important is to let them know you are looking for them. Hope you find your baby

Try following these steps. Lost cat protocol Please let neighbors know and put up Lost signs with your information. It only costs about $15 for 10 signs at Office Depot/Max. Contact your local (assigned) shelters every day and visit Halifax humane society. Check these pages: https://www.volusia.org/services/public-protection/animal-services/lost-found.stml# A new and effective way to local a lost pet is using Love Lost. It is a national lost-and-found pet database run by the nonprofit Petco Love Lost— and it's using AI to help reunite pet owners with their furry friends. Sign Up for Petco Love Lost | Petco Love Lost https://petcolove.org/lost/signup/?utm_medium=referral This is their FB page. https://www.facebook.com/share/15YNVqzG3g/?mibextid=wwXIfr Even more you can do - Lost cat Protocol: Cat is usually close by. When cats escape they are usually afraid. Therefore, they normally, hunker down and hide very close to home. They will usually only venture out a short way if they don’t find a food source. Once they find food, they will normally stay in that area. Most cats are creatures of habit and will keep coming back to the place they find food. You need to search for the cat nightly using an LED flashlight. This is important!!! For BEST results, It must be a bright LED flashlight. 400 lumens or stronger. (This is VERY IMPORTANT!) You can get one at Harbor Freight or WalMart for about 15.00. A regular flashlight isn’t bright enough. It has to be LED and at least 400 lumens. Go out nightly. Especially later when it gets very quiet. 12 AM or later around 2 AM is a good time. That is when cats prowl. Also, before dawn. Look for glowing green eyes. All cats eyes will glow green at night when you use an LED flashlight. Sometimes you have to bend down to catch the glow of the eyes at a certain angle. You must look under cars, in bushes, street gutters, etc. Anywhere at all they can hide. If more than 2 days, do not call the cat’s name. That can spook them. Also, do not chase if seen. Many cats will go into survival mode or what’s called fight or flight mode and won’t even come to their owners. Get down on ground level and gently coax them to you patting the ground softly. Have some smelly canned food or shake a bag of treats. Have a carrier handy to put kitty into if it walks up to you. There’s a good possibility you might need to use a humane trap to catch your cat. Be consistent and do this nightly with the LED flashlight. I can’t stress this enough!! In a low predator area or one that is secure or monitored by a human: You can set up a feeding station with a trail cam on it. I would set that up by the area the cat got out. Or, the last place they were seen hanging out. If you have or can get a monitoring system, Set up a trail cam, it will give you the capability to see if the cat is coming to eat. If so, you can set a humane trap baited with Mackerel in brine. It’s sold by the canned tuna in stores. It’s in a large can usually with the blue label. Your cat also might come back home looking for a way to get back in. If you can leave a window open that would be good. Also, listen for the cats meow in case it’s trying to get back in at your front door. Many missing cats have been found this way and some missing for a long time.. best of luck. Best wishes and I hope she is found safe soon. https://www.google.com/amp/s/tractive.com/blog/en/safety/missing-cat-what-to-do/amp
