MESSAGE FROM OWNER
Harry, a majestic-looking, beautiful boy, was obviously abandoned and showed up at my in Cripple Creek close to a year ago, in bad shape with matted fur, ticks and fleas, hungry, no collar, no microchip and not fixed, staring in my door and windows, meowing, asking for help. I got him medical care, groomed, and of course, got him neutered. I fed him well and provided everything he needed for comfort for several months. However, he was so mean to my existing cats, that they were not only terrified and stressed constantly, by his presence, but he would attack them viciously (unprovoked) and I had to get my cat's wounds treated from his attacks several times--and he wouldn't stop! I had no option than to re- him in order to save my existing, elderly cat's lives! Although Harry is mean to other cats, he is not aggressive to humans, but he is scared of people in general, as he has been neglected and abandoned in the past. I recently re-homed Harry in mid-January to a new owner in Florissant who loves animals and used to be a vet tech and intended to work closely with him and work him from being her barn cat into being her indoor cat. However, shortly after she let him out of his containment, he fled--he must have been spooked by something in his new environment, and obviously did not spend enough time in containment to truly get to know his new owners well enough or his new environment. I feel devastated by this! The owner just let me know when I checked up on him, or I would have started my search immediately. But I do have the owner's permission to look for him, and if I can find him, (assuming he has survived in this harsh winter and coyote season) the plan is for me to bring him back with me so I can work with him in isolation (which will be difficult for our household, but I really feel I owe him, especially now), to get him used to being indoor only--away from other cats--and tame down his feral instincts and to trust humans once again. His owner is willing to take him back as an indoor cat at that point--or, if someone else is willing to take him as an indoor cat--I believe she would be open to that as well. I know he would love the opportunity to be someone's special boy..They say Maine Coons--which I believe he is a Maine Coon mix, make incredible pets! Please let me know if you see him! Thank you.
DESCRIPTION
Maine Coone/Mix, Long Haired, Neutered, gray and white, recently re-homed to Florissant but ran away, so he will be lost and disoriented in his new environment. Please feed him so he will return. If he showed up at your hse and you are taking care of him and you want him to stay with you and can give him a good , please just let us know so we can make it official. The owner and past owner just want to know he's safe and being taken care of. Ideally we want Harry to have an indoor-only after all he has been through, but he needs to be the only cat in the family, as he is aggressive with other cats.
