If you have not already done so, Start to hang highly visible LOST DOG flyers ASAP in case any passers by see him/her. Flyers are crucial in order to produce sightings …. Do not delay hanging flyers thinking your dog is going to “just come home.” You d on’t want to waste any crucial time being able to find him/her . Make a flyer w/ a clear picture & phone # and get Neon-colored posterboard from the Dollar Store ( Staples, Michael’s, etc) to make a la bright frame for your flyer. Make sure your phone # is legible from the street. You can get copies of your flyer made at Staples very quickly. Place them at intersections (so ALL directions of traffic can easily see them) and hang them heavily around the area missing. ***** Place scent items ( like the dogs bed, blankets and some articles of clothing of the owner (or someone or something familiar outside ( on a deck, deck railing , in the yard, porch, trees, etc. ) where he/she went missing . If they went missing in the last few hours, Grill some bacon or burgers. Sometimes it helps to keep the dog close and feel safe and familiar. Or pick up a hot rotisserie chicken from the grocery store and open up the bag to put the scent in the air. Also notify and check with your local police department , Animal shelters , vets (24 hour vets, etc ) Make a post on your Neighborhood pages / local town apps/ pages as well. The app called “Nextdoor” is a very resourceful app that is for your local neighborhood.
