Elaine Puricelli YES even with a collar-for seven years we have been walking up and down this driveway without a problem and this particular day he took off. I appreciate what you do with your dogs in your own yard however, for seven years, he had 50 acres to roam and always came home. Also, I live on the James and having a collar on him would always create a hotspot on his neck whenever he got into the river, therefore I decided not to keep a collar on him -just a little bit of information that you don’t know but I appreciate you telling me what I should’ve done.

Joe Blouse Even if the dog had a collar and leash? I'm in my 60's and I've owned dogs all my life. Whenever one of my dogs would escape our yard it was ALL hands on deck. Even my kids had to join the search. I NEVER let the Sun set on a dog of mine who had left my yard. A collar and leash would have been the answer.

Elaine Puricelli I agree, however a person could pick up a dog with the intent of taking him to a shelter or keeping the dog thinking it had been neglected. Once a dog gets a chance, it will takeoff.
