FOUND DOG in Kings Mtn State Park. This sweet female Husky was found running loose in the horse trailer parking area at Kings Mountain State Park on Sunday (7/12/26). She is extremely thin, has a significant wound on her back/neck, and was covered in ticks and fleas. The wound appears to have been very recently treated with what looks like Blu-Kote spray, suggesting that someone may have attempted to care for it. She also recently tangled with a skunk, because she stinks to high heaven. Despite her condition, she is incredibly friendly, jumped right into my truck, and was very good while I gave her a bath. We have shaved her wound area, and she is currently being treated with a topical cream with steroids to help it heal, which it already looks 90% better. We have also treated her for fleas. I couldn't leave her there, so she is currently safe with food, water, and shelter, but I CANNOT keep her. I have another female dog that does not get along with other dogs and I really hope she has an owner out there looking for her and that she was not dumped. If this is your dog, you will need to provide proof of ownership before she will be returned. I will also require confirmation that she will receive prompt follow-up veterinary care for her neck wounds. She has clearly been somebody's pet because she is hse-trained and crate-trained. Animal Control and the Park Service have been contacted that I have her in case someone is actively searching for her. She will also be scanned for a microchip later today by my local vet. However, if no owner comes forward or ownership cannot be verified, I will be working toward finding her a safe, foster or permanent home. Please share this post in hopes of finding her rightful owner—or, if none is found, the loving home she deserves. She really is a very sweet dog.
