Call them to engage then they will be on standby once u have a sighting WHAT TO DO Equipment TIME, collar, leash, slip leash, tasty treats, roast chicken, bacon etc, clothes that smell like home, string flashlight TODO SECURE the animal POST absolutely everywhere. Local community and both community pet pages and community lost pet pages. Plus post in the major Vancouver list per pages. Ask people to listing with date stamp. Tell everyone DO NOT CHASE CALL ANIMAL SERVICES - report and give them updates UPDATE AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.The more engaged u are the more the community is engaged and vested in helping find ur dog POSTERS Make lots of large neon posters. Put them everywhere Picture and phone number only. Cover with clear garbage bags. If stapling , make sure to take them with strong waterproof tape. SCENT Put out clothes and things that smell like home close to where I saw them last TIME Wait outside where u saw him last Keep looking for him all hours They might be hiding when it’s busy FIGHT OR FLIGHT Dogs start with a fight or flight mode. DO NOT CHASE. Usually 24 hours. Usually after this they calm down and will LOOP the area. DO NOT CHASE, otherwise they go back into flight mode. CALMING SIGNALS If in flight mode, do not look directly at them Get down low When attempting to contain a panicked or lost dog, rescuers use specific body language to appear non-threatening: [1, 2] * Avoid Direct Eye Contact: Staring is a threat; instead, look at the ground or use your phone's camera to monitor the dog indirectly. * Walking in a Curve: Never approach a fearful dog head-on. Walk in a wide spiral or at a \(45\)-degree angle to show peaceful intentions. * Sitting or Lying Down: Lowering your body size makes you appear smaller and less intimidating. * Yawning and Lip Licking: Humans can mirror these natural dog signals to communicate that they are not a threat. * Tossing Treats: Toss high-value, "stinky" treats (like hot dogs or chicken) to the side or behind you rather than directly at the dog. THANK YOU GOT BRING A GREAT FUR PARENT DONT GIVE UP ON THEM HOPE U FIND HIM/ HER SOON ❤️🐾🐶
