They are usually closer than you think and scared/hiding (unless not fixed). It can be over a week before they venture out for food. Don’t rely on neighbors seeing your missing kitty posts. *Live traps work well but must be monitored often. Talk to all neighbors and physically check yourself all surrounding sheds, garages, under bushes and decks (5 house radius). Give your mail carrier a pic with phone # on it. Check and post on Nextdoor, PawBoost, PETFBI, and Petco Love Lost. If they come back, chip and clip if not already done. 🐱

Put water and food outside but bring the food inside at night otherwise it attracts wildlife. Also her bedding or soiled clothes outside.

Notify non-emergency police, animal control and the postal carriers in the area lost. Check with neighbors or businesses nearby that may have cameras. Put a neon sign in your yard. Fill out lost reports with both Lost Dogs/Cats Minnesota website www.petfbi.org and Pawboost website (choose not to pay for ads and it’s free!) They will generate a flyer for you to print. Post in lost animal sites and community sites on FB. Put up flyers at nearby stores/gas stations, pet stores, libraries, and give some to pizza delivery places to put on their boxes. Put the outside flyers in a gallon sized freezer bag to protect from the elements. You can also try bus companies to put a flyer on their buses. Let the kids in the area know as they notice everything when not on their phones. Put food and water out and something with your scent. Check in nearby garages, sheds, window wells, ponds, look under decks. Also check with shelters in person or call as many as you can and give them a flyer. If the animal is chipped notify the company and make sure your contact info is correct. Also let vet and groomers in the area know. Can see if anyone has a drone to help search especially if woods nearby. Please also be aware of scammers. Especially if you are giving a reward. Do not give them a code or anything they ask. Tell them you will give them the reward at the police station for both of your safety. 🙏🏻 for a reunion soon! Don’t give up hope!

No matter how long your kitty has been gone, stay vigilant with all lost cat protocols and advice - kitty may have been taken in by a well meaning person and could be very near - keep posters and flyers fresh and communications current with local animal control, vets, and rescues for new leads - keep the faith 💪🏼 Use whatever is applicable in the following for your situation: Extra strength prayers your kitty is safe nearby (cats usually stay in the vicinity) and home very very soon - put their food and warm shelter outside your door in a protected area and/or in your garage - diligently canvas the area and local businesses with large colorful posters and flyers - contact local animal control, vets, and rescues for any possible leads - cross post on neighborhood/community FB pages for further reach - cats are superior survivalists - stay vigilant in searching and don’t lose hope 🙏🏻❤️💪🏼 P.s. Beware of scammers saying they have found your kitty and need $$$ and your contact information. And also, how an Instagram/FB site helped them find their pet - don't click on site. All BS scammers. 🙏❤️💪🏼
