Probably scared and hiding somewhere nearby. Put some clothes or blankets with your scent on them outside. This evening go walk around outside with bright flashlights and call for him. His eyes will glow when the light is on them. Put a post on the neighborhood Nextdoor so neighbors can be on the lookout for him and contact you if they find him. Hope you find your dog soon 🙏
