Great news! Ralphie is home! He came back hungry, and his brother has been following him around, curious about where he's been 🙌

Walk around calling your cat as you always do. Look under bushes and in hiding places. Look at dawn and dusk with a flashlight to catch the glare of your cat's eyes. Leave garage door and lanai partially open if possible. Your cat will try to get back inside ..most likely at night. Use a trap...The only way to find his way home.or to the trap is by smell. Use some of your used clothes, put them outside and around the trap. A friend of mine used her shirt and dragged it through the neighborhood. Her cat found the smell and followed it home. It is all about the smell. You can also cut a shirt of yours into small small pieces and leave a scent trail back to the trap. I read a few days ago that a lady put out a trace with the old litter throughout the neighborhood. It worked. Her cat came home! Use the litter to lead your cat to the trap. Also try to distribute flyers throughout that neighborhood...as many as you can ( 3 miles radius at least). Check shelters in person...don't just call. Put battery operated trail cameras outside. Your cat might show up in the middle of the night. When you know the time you can wait for for your cat and slow blink to make contact. NEVER GIVE UP! I read once that you can put a chair outside and cover it up with a blanket and the cat can jump up and hide under the blanket and feels safe. They said you should put one of your shirts under the blanket and food and water next to the chair. It might be worth a try to put up a chair

All the above advice + Make sure you go to the shelters, animal control, humane societies & every rescue you can think of in person and check for your dog or cat as often as you can. Don’t rely on just calling to check for them. The shelters are understaffed and overwhelmed right now, they may not recognize your dog or cat from al description over the phone. And, put up flers & post on Love of ouie, Pawboost next door, etc., etc

Check extremely good around your house and neighbors, shrubs, bushes, high grass, paper bags and trees, underneath porches and decks, outbuilding and garages, evening time when it’s quiet too, check all shelters in your county and animal control also.

LOST CAT TIPS Cats typically don't go very far, and are hiding, so you'll have to search for them. Get smelly food, like tuna or sardines out ASAP. Put dirty clothing (a pillowcase you've been sleeping on is best) with your scent out along with food, as your cat will be looking for your scent. Your cat will try to re-enter the house the same way it left. If possible, secure other any other animals you have and leave the door ajar/window open that he escaped from. Check in and around your home: inside the entire house, bushes, up in trees, deck, porch etc. If their head fits their body will too! Do NOT put the litter box out as it may attract community cats and other predators, which could actually deter your cat from coming home out of fear. IMMEDIATELY make a flyer and/or go door to door and ask neighbors to check outbuildings, sheds, garages and their Ring and other security camera footage for sightings of him/her and to text/call you ASAP! Not everyone uses social media, so large neon posters/flyers in your neighborhood is critical in getting your lost pet back home. Post on all social media groups, especially those specific to your neighborhood and on Nextdoor, and Ring. Definitely post on For the Love of Louie and check periodically on their FOUND pages to see if he/she has been found by someone. Go out periodically through out the night (especially after midnight until dawn) shaking his/her treats or opening a can of wet food and call to him/her. Use a flashlight to look under cars, bushes and up in trees for the glow of the kitties eyes. Listen for any responses and watch for movement and/or eyes peering out. Renting/borrowing/buying a live trap and setting within the first 24 hours your cat has been missing is a good idea. Live traps need to be monitored frequently (a camera with a live feed is best). Be prepared to release wildlife. If you have a garage, leave the door open enough for him/her to get in. If you live in a mobile home community look under yours and your neighbor's homes.

Megan Ferguson 🚨Please follow these tips immediately suggested by professionals. They have been successful for others. LOST CAT TIPS Your Missing Cat will try to re-enter the home when the neighborhood is quiet. If it all possible, leave the door ajar that the kitty escaped from and secure other companion animals to a separate room of the home. He/she will try to re-enter when the neighborhood is quiet in the evening and overnight hours. Make sure you physically check underneath and in the engine compartment of your vehicles prior to starting in the morning. Cats typically don't go very far, and are hiding, so you'll have to search for them. Put clothing/bedding that smell like him/her and his/her family outside the home immediately. Along with some smelly food such as tuna,. sardines,. mackerel fish in front of camera if you have one. The usually will follow the scent home. If you have a garage, leave the door open enough for him/her to get in. If you live in a mobile home community look under yours and your neighbor's homes. Check around your home: bushes, up in trees, deck, porch etc. If their head fits their body will too! Door-knock neighbors and ask them to check outbuildings, sheds, garages and ring cam footage. Use a flashlight to look under cars, bushes and up in trees for the glow of the kitties eyes. Go out periodically through out the night shaking his/her treats or opening a can of wet food and call to him/her. Listen for any responses and watch for movement and/or eyes peering out. Renting/borrowing/buying a live trap and setting within the first 24 hours your cat has been missing is a good idea. Live traps need to be monitored frequently. Be prepared to release wildlife. You can purchase a live trap at tractor supply store. Use sardines, mackerel fish or tuna in the trap, they will not go in a trap for cat food. The only food they should have access to is what's in the trap or they will not go in. Post on Nextdoor app and any other neighborhood groups on Facebook. Ask neighbors to check security camera footage for sightings of him and to call you ASAP. Post on For the Love of Louie *Michigan Lost Pet Lookers* Also post on pawboost online for lost and found pets. Posting neon posters in your neighborhood is very important to the recovery of your lost pet. Also give a flyer to the mailman. You can use neon poster board from the dollar store. Write missing cat, a description of your cat and phone number with a marker.
