Message from Owner

Sage is a very timid rescue. She’s sweet but undoubtedly scared. Got into a car mishap and she ran off, I was injured and taken to the hosp and was unable to chase after her. Please if you find her, contact someone so we can get her back! She’s dog and cat friendly.

She's unfamiliar with the area, but she will come back to where she went missing from. Dogs that go missing from accidents or rest areas go back to the scene. Make sure you post on: nextdoor, ring doorbell, lost and found pets, pawboost, petcolove, petfbi, any state, city, and county sites. Let the police, vets, and animal shelters know your dog is missing. If your dog is chipped, let the chip company know also. Put some hot smelly food at the place he went missing. Food like: hotdogs, smoky links, rotisserie chicken, or canned chicken. I put it on a tortilla if you have one. Get liquid smoke(comes where the Bar-B-Q sauce is in the store), add to a squirt bottle with water, and spray in the trees nearby. Also, put something with your scent on it (dirty pillowcase or shirt work great) nearby too. YOUR Next Step needs to be getting flyers up! FLYER FLYER FLYER! Almost every dog I have recovered has been because of flyers, not social media! Flood the area with them (homes, businesses). Give them to your mail carrier, UPS driver, and Amazon driver. Ask stores and gas stations in your area if you can hang a flyer. Tape them on port-a-pottys at construction sites. They're critical in getting a lost pet back!! There is a free app called postermywall where you can make free colorful flyers. Order 200+ flyers SUPPLIES: Clear large rolls of packing tape w/dispenser. staple gun and staples, Page protectors ⁃ Stuff flyers upside down in plastic page protectors (bought at Walmart/office supply) and tape across the bottom to seal out moisture. ⁃ Hang on all telephone poles & signs in the area that your pet was last seen in and go at least two miles in every direction from that sighting. ⁃ Clear Packing tape works best and wrap around the post to stick to itself. ⁃ Bring rags/towels to dry it first (if wet). Make sure you do all four corners at major intersections. I like to hang the flyers going in and out of the subdivisions along the main roads you are flyering, so that is usually a stop sign going out and a speed limit sign going in! Poster board for busy intersections.Using the posterboard really helps! Make sure to put flyers in a protector for the poster and then use packaging tape to cover the front. This helps the poster to last longer in crappy weather. Cut them in 1/2 to make two out of them.( The dollar store has bright colored poster board.) Write on them with black marker: NAME COLOR DESCRIPTION DO NOT CHASE OR CALL TO CALL IMMEDIATELY WITH SIGHTINGS YOUR # Mailbox fliers have been really effective too. You can get 2 on an 8 1/2×11. Do in black and white. It goes really fast with 2people. One drives and the other one tapes it to the front of the mailbox. •DO NOT CALL YOUR DOG WHEN LOOKING FOR THEM. IT WILL MAKE THEM RUN! •Check cemeteries, schools, golf courses, parks, and cul-de-sacs. Dogs like these because they are quiet. •Make sure that you don't post sightings on social media. You don't want well-meaning people running out to help as he/she will be scared and may run, which could put them in danger. • Posting a reward can also bring out people who only want the money and if they chase the dog, it could also end up running out of fear and into danger. •Do not go to where he/she was seen and call out for him/her as that could scare them and push them out of the area or into danger! You want him/her to settle down and stay in one area so he/she can be trapped, if necessary. Instead take some stinky food and place in a safe place, if you have a camera put it in front the food - to see if he/she comes to eat it. ** If you (THE OWNER) see your dog, do not call out to them or make eye contact- Sit on the ground. Always have some stinky food with you(Hot dogs, rotisserie chicken, or a small bag of Cheetos), to help lure them to you. Do not say anything, make eye contact or make quick moves. Your dog needs to see you, hear you, and smell you - before he/she can process who you are and come to you!!! Once they approach, quietly say a phrase they would be familiar with. If they walk away, stay put for a few minutes. They may be trying to get your scent. If they leave DO NOT CHASE them. If someone calls and says they have your dog, ask them to take a picture. If they say they saw your dog, ask them a trick question like, " oh, does he still have his orange collar on?" If you feel it's legit, ask " what were they doing- running, walking, etc. And which direction did they go in.

Put smelly food like chicken and hot dogs, her kennel, blankets and your worn clothing outside your house and at sighting locations for her. Make a scent trail of liquid smoke from the food outward in each direction. Call the police and animal control to report her missing. Ask neighbors to check surveillance camera footage to see if she has been seen on them. If she has a doggy friend/sibling that she is bonded with, take that dog out to search as well. Sometimes dogs will come to other dogs. Check the area well, including window wells, under decks, porches, bushes and places where she can get in but may not be able to get out. It’s really important to get big bright neon lost dog signs up in the area she is lost so people know who to call right away if they see her:
