Lisa Davis you obviously have no clue about what to actually do when a cat goes missing. Please do us cat lovers a solid and quit sharing this laughable advice. I keep seeing you leaving this advice around. Maybe copy and paste it into Google if you won't take my advice. As an active animal advocate and TNR rescue and cat lover I think the person's best bet is not shining a laser or playing cat meowing YouTube videos. (The only way a lost cat can find its way home is with its nose. They have to use their sense of smell to get home again. Put anything outside that smells like their territory. Put the pajamas you slept in outside because you probably sweated in them. Put out their food your stinky socks your smelly sneakers anything you can think of that the cat will recognize by smell. Cats usually stay within a five house radius of their own home for up to a week or so sleeping in the bushes during the day and coming out at dusk and dawn. Those are good times to take a walk shaking the treat bag calling out but cats also tend to come out and walk around very late at night. Try to keep a door cracked if you can whether it's the garage or whatever or a window cracked so you can hear them if they call out for you. Put this on all of the neighborhood pages as well as lost and found pets sites. Knock on the neighbors doors and make sure they know you're looking for your cat. Good luck PS cats can smell up to one mile away from their own house. Absolutely no litterbox outside or food. It attracts predators is why. Never give up.) Now Google my advice.

Distribute flyers to entire neighborhood. Put a large poster with photo and phone number in your front yard for those not on social media. Check animal control daily in person- not by phone or online. Leave a flyer with them and humane societies and rescues and vets. Also your mailman. Most cats are found within a 3-5 house radius. Indoor only cats are usually much closer hiding. Best time to look is before dawn and way after dark. Take a flashlight and look up trees and under bushes, under decks, in ditches, in/behind sheds, etc. You have a beautiful kitty.

Do not play cat meows or cook chicken on the grill. That's not very effective. As I have shared what is truly effective as it has been tried and tested and is the most useful of advice.

Go out in the quiet of the night 2-4 am and call him. Scared kitties are usually close by… this has worked for me many times! Praying it works for you too.

Cook chicken on the grill. Put catnip outside. Play YouTube videos of kittens crying and shine a laser cat toy around the bushes.
