Every single day - not just due to 4th of July fireworks - I see post after post about lost pets. I just don't understand how people who love their companion animals can be careless for even 1 second and risk losing these little loves. PLEASE encourage your friends and neighbors to make sure their fur babies are in a safe, secure situation whether you're home or away. Drill it into your kids (and husbands . . . ) how important it is to not leave a door open, a gate unlocked, etc. There's NO EXCUSE for your pets to get out and get lost. People WILL come into your back yard and steal your pets, and you probably don't want to know why. . . If you're unable to commit to keeping an animal safe that you've taken in, you probably shouldn't have that pet and should re-home it to a loving someone who can.
