Message from Owner

Maia is the sweetest old lady, and very dear to our family. She is about 16 years old, very petite (6lb), and missing most of her teeth. She can be shy but never aggressive or mean. We are so worried for her, and cannot imagine how scared she must be. Please help us if you have any information at all.

This is why cats don't belong outside.

Missing outdoor access cats I would ask neighbors if they would open their sheds/garages that they don’t use every day to see if your cat accidentally got shut inside. Displacement for outdoor-access cats happens when the cat is chased out of their known territory (i.e. beat up by another cat, chased by a dog, or even panicked by fireworks where the cat bolts in fear and ends up in a yard he has never been in before). It’s possible your cat got pushed further away from your home than normal & he’s now in unfamiliar territory, not able to find his way home. You should make flyers with a couple pictures of your cat, along with your contact information, & ask neighbors to watch for your cat & check their outside security camera footage for sightings. I would hand these out within a 3-4 block radius of your home. When an outdoor cat disappears, it can mean that something has happened to interfere with the cat returning home, such as someone taking the cat in because they thought it was abandoned, the cat is injured, or the cat is trapped somewhere, unable to get out. If you haven’t gone to your neighbors & asked to look under their decks, porches, sheds, etc., I would do that because your neighbors aren’t going to get on their bellies & crawl under places to look for your cat. Of course it’s possible your cat is just outside roaming & will return when they’re ready, but the above suggestions are for other possibilities.

I'm not real close but I know how our furry friends can travel. Will keep an eye out on Geryville Pike for her. I hope you get your furry family member back soon!
